My Review...

Full of mystery and intrigue with a healthy dose of steaminess this newest story from Ms. Harrison is going to keep you on the edge of your seat!

This is the story of Matteo and Viviana and their whirlwind of a relationship.

Matteo is the boss, he is ruthless, unmerciful and direct. He is the ultimate alpha. He has no qualms to getting what he wants in any way possible. Even with Viviana he can be a tyrant and I admired Viviana for standing up for herself.

Viviana is a pawn in the world she lives in. She knows it and tries to determine her own fate and future.

The chemistry between Matteo and Viviana is hotter than hades and burns up the pages.

This story is full of twists and turns, it’s going to keep you guessing until the very end!

This was a big story, I could have read 10 more chapters about them easily. I didn’t want it to end! It was fantastic seeing past characters make appearances. The world that Ms. Harrison has created is absolutely brilliant, I cannot wait to read more!

A woman’s suspicions about her ex-boyfriend become a dangerous obsession in a twisting novel of psychological suspense by Washington Post and Wall Street Journalbestselling author Minka Kent.

Eight years ago, Grace McMullen broke Sutton Whitlock’s heart when she walked away. But it was only to save him from the baggage of her own troubled past. Now all she wants is to make sure he’s okay.

Only everything she learns about him online says otherwise. According to his social media accounts, he placed roots in her hometown, married a look-alike, and even named his daughter Grace. He clearly hasn’t moved on. In fact, it’s creepy. So Grace does what any concerned ex-girlfriend would do: she moves home…and watches him.

But when Grace crosses paths with Sutton’s wife, Campbell, an unexpected friendship develops. Campbell has no idea whom she’s inviting into her life. As the women grow closer, it becomes clear to Grace that Sutton is not the sentimental man she once knew. He seems controlling, unstable, and threatening. And what a broken man like Sutton is capable of, Grace can only imagine. It’s up to her to save Campbell and her baby now—but while she’s been watching them, who’s been watching her?

“So . . . what brings you back?” My father’s tone is pleasant, but his eyes squint as he studies me in the blue-green twilight of early evening.

The truth is complicated.

“Been gone long enough,” I say on a long exhale. “Thought maybe it was time to come home.”

Home.

I use the word for his sake. It makes him smile.

While I resided at 372 Magnolia Drive the first ten years of my life, calling it “home” would be a stretch at this point.

His dark eyes turn glassy, and his fingertips twitch at his sides. He wants to hug me, I’m sure, but he knows me too well. At least that part of me.

“Your room’s exactly how you left it,” he says instead of asking more questions. I imagine he’ll space them out, fishing casually for tidbits until he has the whole picture. An investigational paint-by-numbers. “Good to have you back, Grace. I mean that. Stay as long as you need. We’ll catch up whenever you’re ready.”

I thank him before grabbing my roller bag and climbing the winding staircase in the sweeping foyer. Every step rustles an unsettled sensation in my center, but I force it down with tight swallows.

I’m here on a mission, and as soon as it’s over, I’m leaving again.

Stopping at the top of the stairs, I’m greeted by an outdated family portrait—the original McMullens dressed in coordinating navy-blue outfits, the children hand in hand, grinning against the autumnal backdrop of some local state park.

There we are.

Frozen in time.

Blissfully unaware of fate’s cruel plans for us.

We were beautiful together—enviably happy from the outside.

Hashtag blessed.

My attention homes in on my parents, the way my mother gazes up into my father’s handsome face, her golden hair shining in the early evening sunset, his hand cupping the side of her cheek. If I didn’t know better, I’d think their love for one another was equal and balanced.

I trace my fingertips against the burnished-gold frame before pressing it just enough that it tilts, off-center. Noticeable only if you stare too long.

I have no desire to rewrite history, and I have little patience for those who feel the need to do so.

When I reach my old room, I flick on the light and plant myself in the doorway.

My father’s right. It’s exactly how I left it: Dark furniture. Blue walls. Pile of stuffed animals in the corner. Perfectly made bed complete with an ironed coverlet and a million pillows.

Aside from the fresh vacuum tracks in the carpet, no one’s set foot in this room since the last time I was home my senior year of college.

I lock the door and collapse on the bed, digging my phone from my bag and pulling up the Instaface account for my ex from college and staring at his profile picture for the tenth time today—the hundredth time this week. Same coffee-brown hair trimmed neatly into a timeless crew cut. Same hooded, almond-shaped eyes the earthy color of New England in autumn. Same dimples flanking his boyish smile like parentheses. He’s exactly how I remember him, only with a decade of life tacked onto his face. Shallow creases spread across his forehead. A deep line separates his eyebrows. Maybe there’s a little more hollowing beneath his jovial gaze. But other than that, he’s the same as I remember.

I could describe Sutton Whitlock fifty thousand ways, but at the end of the day, I can sum him up in five words: he was a good man.

Eight years ago, I broke his heart—and not because I wanted to.

I had to save him from a lifetime of disappointment.

I had to save him from me.

But a handful of things have come up online recently—things that indicate he’s not okay.

I need to rectify what I’ve done. I need to apologize for hurting him. Explain my reasons. Give him permission to move on, to be happy.

And then I’ll disappear . . . again.

With a love of the literary dark and twisted, Minka cut her teeth on Goosebumps and Fear Street, graduated to Stephen King as a teenager, and now counts Gillian Flynn, Chevy Stevens, and Caroline Kepnes amongst her favorite authors and biggest influences. My Review...

This newest thriller from Minka Kent is going to keep you guessing until the very end!

From the beginning you can understand why Grace is the way she is, why she looks for imperfections in the most beautiful things. She is smart and very untrusting, which given her career you can see why. During the story and her journey to try to right the past she feels she has wronged, you see her evolve and realize the truths she thought she had were just half truths and skewed reality.

There is shock value aplenty in this story too, I was bowled over by some of the revelations in this story. Grace will face some challenges and also get some clarity about her past.

Sometimes trying to fix your past isn’t the best thing to do.  Read this story and you will find out why!

Well done Ms. Kent, I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Contemporary Romance; Sports/football romance; Surprise Baby

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby carriage.
I have wished for that saying to come true every day of my life.
But that’s not my reality.

Here is my version:
First comes the blind date with an incredibly sexy football coach.
Then comes the friends with benefits that you know is so wrong but you don’t care because it feels so right.
Then comes the unexpected baby carriage.
At least we got one in order.

Except Davis doesn’t want the same things I do.
I want to fall in love.
He says love isn’t for him.
I want a family.
He has made it clear that a family is not on his agenda.

But babies don’t care about your plans. They come when they are ready. Even if you aren’t.
The same can be said about falling in love.

“What is the opposite of a gentleman?” I ask.

Davis doesn’t answer as the bartender takes that opportunity to take our order. Vodka soda for me. Beer for him. As he’s trying to convince the bartender to put the drinks on Hunter’s tab, I take the opportunity to give him a better look.

His dress shirt is rolled at the sleeves in the way that makes most women, including me, go ga-ga over. His eyes are a fascinating shade of blue that almost looks gray. Then there is his cologne. It’s a combination of a woodsy and manly scent that makes me glad I have to cross my legs in this dress.

“The opposite of a gentleman,” he says, suddenly pulling me away from my unladylike thoughts. “is a man who just meets a woman and can’t stop looking at her legs, or wondering what they would feel like wrapped around him. The opposite of a gentleman is knowing we are here with our friends, but not being able to wait for the time we can leave. The opposite of a gentleman is wondering how I could know you from just a photo and a few words of conversation, but I already know I’m about to kick my friend’s ass for not introducing us sooner.”

I reach for my drink that was just put down in front of me, needing the liquid to cool me down.

What man talks like that? Definitely none I have ever been with. In my quest to find Mr. Right, I have dated douchebags and fuck boys. They tried to talk like Davis just did, but failed epically. Just sending a text saying, “U up?” isn’t the way to lure a woman to bed. Then there were the responsible guys. The ones with 401ks, savings accounts, and square footage with their name on the deed. They definitely never talked like that.

But Davis? Davis knows what he wants. And apparently, right now, he wants me. Sadie might have said he doesn’t take things too seriously, but I’m guessing that doesn’t mean inside the bedroom. Unless he’s a big talker. But judging by the way he’s looking at me right now—with nothing but fire in his eyes—I would bet all the money I have in my bank account that this man can not only talk the talk, but can also walk the walk.

This guy isn’t Mr. Forever. This guy has Mr. One Night written all over him. My dreams of this being my last first date are once again crushed.

“Cat got your tongue, princess?”

I ignore the pet name, not having any clue where he came up with it, and take another healthy sip of my drink as I gather courage for what I’m about to say.

Because I’ve never said it before.

One night.

Maybe one night wouldn’t be so bad? At least this time I know what I’m getting into. There wouldn’t be any surprise when I wake up tomorrow morning and he’s already gone, quicker than the afterglow of what I expect would be a phenomenal orgasm—or three.

And let’s be real, it has been a really long time since anyone has been anywhere near my bed. And definitely not a guy as attractive as Davis. Or with a man who can make my toes curl just with his words.

Yes! This is perfect.

I can’t get hurt if I know what I’m getting myself into. This time, I’m in control. Right?

Well, at least going into it. If the way he’s looking at me right now says anything, I have a feeling he’s going to be in control for most of the night.

And I don’t hate that. Not one bit.

“Not at all,” I say as I lean a little closer to him. “I was just thinking I like the fact you’re not a gentleman. Being a gentleman doesn’t sound nearly as fun.”

He lets out a small laugh. “I’m all about fun.”

“I like the sound of that.”

One night.

No one gets hurt knowing the expectations. What could be the harm in that?

My Review...

Nashville Fury – Book 2

Ms. Sloan continues to dazzle us readers with this series! To me she has a unique and fresh “voice” and it really shines in this newest story!

I love the fact that this story, and she fully admits it, was never meant to be! I am always in awe of the talent of writers and when their characters refuse to stop talking to them and demand that their stories be told!

This is the story of Davis and Bethany, secondary characters that were so intriguing that they get a story all their own!

Bethany is a true southern lady. She is fierce when needs be, she knows what she wants and will make no apologies for it! She also knows that walking out of the house without makeup and hair did is just sacrilege! Hee hee! She is a true heroine in this story.

Davis, oh my me! What a swoon-fest he is! Such a charmer. But he has a lot of responsibilities on his plate, and he thinks he knows what he doesn’t need in his life. Boy I love when he gets proven wrong!

There are so many surprises in this story! I could hardly put this book down once I started! The dialogue, the wit and the heart in this story is truly magical!

Hold on to your hearts! This story of Davis and Bethany is gonna try to steal it away!

About the Book

Ben said he loved me, lusted after me, and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. From the very beginning I was honest with him about my complicated life. He promised me the only thing that mattered was our love. I thought the future was set until…

“Evie, I can’t do us anymore.”

The day Ben walked away was the day my love life went on permanent hiatus. Men were a distraction that I didn’t want or need until…

Tall, dark, and handsome ex-pro-football player, Butler Thompson, entered the picture and interrupted my heart.

My Review...

This story, oh my me, this story is one of the best I have read this year! This is the poignant story of Evie and Butler.  This is a romance, sure, but it is also…So. Much. More.

This is the story about the unsung heroes in our midst. Caregivers. This story is a beautifully written story that focuses on what caregivers go through. This really touched my soul. I too am a caregiver, not to the extent of Evie in the story but I could so see myself in some of the pages, what Evie goes through.

I could understand Evie’s hesitance, her vulnerabilities, and her loneliness. I could understand her need to handle everything on her own and I applauded when she finally realized she needed help.  It didn’t make her weaker or less than, it made her stronger

And then let me not forget a huge player in this story, Butler. His patience, his caring and his downright swooniness was inspirational!

Evie’s circle of trust is small, her past has made it so and to see Butler slowly work his way in was beautiful to read. I enjoyed the witty banter between the two of them and their chemistry was magical!

The flow of this story was perfect and I absolutely loved the flashbacks, it really showed the love between mother and daughter.

This is story is definitely going in the running for my “Best Reads of 2021” well done Ms. Bailey, it was well worth the wait!

Who, wait for it, wants to find Mrs. Right and get hitched.

He’s a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of man, and it’s a darn shame I’m not on the market. If I were, his accent alone would melt me. Add in the fact that he’s a veterinarian, and my animal-loving heart would be flip flopping.

But my heart’s on the mend. I’m a single parent like him, and raising my teenage daughter is my top priority. Plus, falling for a guy who shares your property line is a line you shouldn’t cross.

Still, I’m an outgoing gal, so I do the neighborly thing and offer to be his dating insider.

Surely, I can help this small town’s most eligible bachelor ever navigate his way through all the fantastic single ladies eager to make his acquaintance.

My Review...

What a fantastic, fast paced story by Ms. Blakely.

Who doesn’t love a swoony accent? Who doesn’t love a romantical man? Who doesn’t love a woman who knows her mind and what she wants? If you answered yes to these questions than this is the book for you!

This is the story of January and Liam. Next door neighbors that become so much more! I absolutely loved the dialogue and the dry humor of this story! I was chuckling right along with the characters as I read.

January is a single mom, knows what she wants and doesn’t want to deviate from the plans she has made. She owns her own business and she doesn’t apologize for dominating in a man’s world. When she meets her new neighbor, sparks fly and plans that seem so solid to her become a bit hazy.  But I admired the fact that she sticks to what she wants when it’s important and not bowing down to meet Liam’s needs.

Liam has come home (by way of NYC and Surrey) to take over his father’s practice. He knows what he wants too, a family for himself and his son.

Liam and January’s chemistry is so believable and charming and I fell hard for the both of them!

Another fantastic story from the great and talented mind of Lauren Blakely!

My Review...

This is the thrilling and steamy story of Addy and Ace.

I was so intrigued to read more about Addison, what she held back from her siblings and what she went through to become the woman she is today. It was heartbreaking and so easy to see why she suffered hard with survivor’s guilt. She had to become a fierce, strong, and independent woman, even if it seemed to hold her back sometimes.

Ace…whew what alpha hero! He is the founder of Covington Security and he was the one that saved Addison years ago.  He has been longing for her ever since and when her past comes back to threaten her future, his protective instincts go into overdrive.

Addy and Ace’s chemistry was like a match and gasoline, easily igniting and burning up the pages! It was a battle of wills between them and I was cheering hard for them to make it through.

I loved the mystery and the intrigue that was at the forefront of this story, it kept me guessing until the very end! And boy what an ending it was! The danger, the excitement just cemented the fact of what a great story this was!

The Covington Security Series is starting out with a bang and I can’t wait to see what’s to come!

ABOUT

“Are you stalking me?”

“We live right next door to each other, New Girl.”

Bay Bishop aka The New Girl is my new neighbor. Glasses, stage crew black clothes and a knack for fading into the background.

She’s probably the only one who rolls her eyes when I walk past instead of cheering on my last touchdown play. But before I can shove her into the recesses of my mind filed under “Not my problem” she lands herself smack dab in the middle of my dreams.

I catch her singing with a voice unlike any I’ve heard before that taps into feelings I shouldn’t have for the girl who avoids me at all costs. I need to know why she hates me.

With three months until graduation, the final play is on. Only it’s not for more points. It’s for Bay.

Unlike my success on the field, this win is anything but assured. But I can’t stop myself from taking the risk.

There’s no flashing scoreboard.

There’s no cheering crowd.

There’s only her and me.

The countdown clock is ticking. The only thing scarier about finding my first love will be losing her.

The Art of Falling for You is the first book in the new Fulton U universe sports romance, Falling trilogy.

EXCERPT

He wanted to pretend he was a nice guy now? I ran through my first day at Greenwood Senior High. The vivid details craved an excruciatingly clear memory of just the kind of guy he was. Even if he didn’t remember, I certainly did.

If only that had been the end of it. But it wasn’t. He was back that afternoon and mom insisted I take him a glass of lemonade.

I kicked his leg and he slid out with grease marks on his cheeks and hands that only made him hotter.

The universe’s unfairness had never been clearer than Dare looking like a cover model wheeling out from under my mom’s junker of a car. If I’d had a team of stylists and beauty professionals dress me and do my makeup, I’d never be more than catalog cute. He was super-model searing without even trying.

“From my mom.” I shoved the glass toward him.

“It’s not from you? Did you make it yourself?” He set the wrench down on the concrete and drew his knees up, resting his back against the side panel of the car. His gaze locked onto mine, holding it and not letting me look away.

My pulse pounded, and my stomach back flipped into next week. “Just take it.”

“Did you poison it?” He lifted an eyebrow.

“Yes, I dropped in one of my cyanide capsules that I keep on hand for annoying neighbors.”

He didn’t say a word, only let me stand there with my arm extended, not making a move to take the glass.

My hand shook. I jerked it back and took a sip. “See, not poisoned.” I took a step closer and held it out again.

His gray eyes twinkled with amusement. He shot up, so his body brushed against mine on the way up, not trying to make room at all for my personal space. His fingers curled over mine before he pulled the glass from my grasp.

Instead of drinking from the side of glass closest to him, he turned it in his hold and took a sip from my side of the glass. My lip prints melted away by his. He didn’t drop his gaze or look away.

He froze me in my tracks like a deer caught in headlights after a long night in the forest.

“Delicious.”

I love writing stories that capture the possibilities of the paths less travelled and enjoy experiencing life through my characters’ eyes.

I’m the mom of three little ones, the wife to an amazing husband and also work full time. Some of my favorite things are cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, white wine, laughing until I can’t breathe, traveling with my family and Jeff Goldblum.

My Review...

I have to say, even though YA isn’t my go to choice in reading, I am always amazed by Ms. Hughes writing!

This story is the start of a trilogy that is going to blow you away! I was invested by the second page and now I am in it for the whole series!

This is the story we have all been waiting for! The story of Dare (Kenyon) and Bay.

I was delightfully surprised by the premise of this story, it’s the perfect set up for the trilogy! We get to see the past, the beginning of the relationship, the beginning of everything.

I absolutely loved Dare and Bay’s history, their backstory. The way that they came together and the way their relationship changed and grew into something epic…then you will see what happens to blow that all away.

This is a fantastic introduction to a the newest series by Ms. Hughes, I cannot wait to read what’s next!

Even though he’s everything I’m looking for. I won’t let that waver me from my decision. I will not fall for the hot mechanic, no matter how big his hammer is.

¡Por primera vez en español, una historia del
universo de Everyday Heroes de K. Bromberg!

My Review...

Set in the KB Everyday Hero world this new story from Ms. Mohel is just as fantastic as her standalones!

This is the story of Cardan and Elena, their whirlwind romance with a hint of mystery. This story is going to keep you turning the pages until the very end.

Elena is a spicy Latina with family and friends that make up her whole world. When life throws her a curveball, she decides to live for each day, do something that scares her and make everyday an adventure. I really enjoyed the Latino element in this story, the family strength and her inner strength.

Cardan is a swoony alpha that knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after it. I absolutely swooned over the interactions he had with Elena. He has come to Sunnyville to start fresh and he fell in love with the town and Elena. Ms. Mohel really out did herself when she created Cardan…whew….

This is a fast paced story but that it doesn’t make it bad, it makes it better!  Ms. Mohel is a fantastic author and I am such a fangirl!
