She didn’t want a one-night stand. He couldn’t promise more than a ten-day fling. Sometimes compromise is all you need.
Zack Weller is timely, orderly, and meticulous. Too bad his seven-year-old, twin sons are hellions. With his divorce final, a two-week vacation beckons him to his best friend’s cottage. Unfortunately, he can’t help the magnetic pull of memories from the house next door—the one that was once his childhood home—or fight the force of nature in the naked woman sunbathing in that backyard.
River Nagle is a free spirit. She understands the trials and tribulations some people face and offers the compassion to deal with them head on. When she inherits a lakeside home, she takes the blessing for what it’s worth: a gift and a new beginning. Until one day two little boys make themselves at home in the tree fort in her backyard and she meets their hot, growly dad who steals her wine, her time, and her heart.
Newly divorced, single father grump meets a ray of sunshine, next-door neighbor in this small town, second chance romance where learning to love over 40 works with the right teacher.

Oh this series is nothing short of perfection! This second book in this series is Zack and River’s story, and what a story it is.
Coming back to Lakeside Cottage is a newly divorced Zack and his young twins. He is trying hard to connect with his sons and fulfilling his friend’s dying wish.
River is new to the neighborhood, inheriting the house next door. Her past is her own and she embraces her new home and a new fresh start.
Friendships and relationships mix together beautifully. These characters have experienced life, love and loss and yet are still able to find hope again.
Reading Zack’s struggle, his wanting to be a better father than his own and his warring feelings for River really pulled at my heartstrings. I wanted to shake him and wrap him up in a hug at the same time.
River’s career makes her one of the most empathic characters I have ever read, her heart was overflowing with feelings and full of forgiveness. She was truly an angel sent from above.
The compromises and negotiations in the relationship between Zack and River were swoony, steamy and oh so smexy!
I have been a huge fan of Ms. Dunbar’s from almost the beginning of her career, and every book she writes continues to amaze me with her imagination and writing talent! Another jewel in the crown for the Queen of Over 40 Romances!
