As we both bring our drinks to our mouths, I notice that Cristian isn’t looking at me, so I follow his gaze. It doesn’t take me long to see what or rather who he is staring at. There, at the end of the row of banquettes, is the most exquisite woman I have ever seen.

Long brown hair that flows down past the swell of her breasts. It’s her eyes, though, that keep me from looking away. From where I’m sitting, I can’t see the color, but when she sees me, they are mesmerizing. She only glances my way for a second before turning around and giving me the cold shoulder.

Few women have done that. Not at a place like this.

Most women throw themselves at me. She, however, stands with her back to me. Her behind is not the worst view I’ve seen. Her short dress that looking from the front seemed modest is anything but.

No. Here, from this angle, nothing is left to the imagination. Two thin straps lower to an open back that dips to the dimples of her ass.

Possessed, I stand from my seat, needing to know who this girl is—and why she so casually dismissed me.

I’m a man on a mission as I stalk over to her. My team is quick to follow, so I’m intimidating as hell as I make my approach.

I should tell them to stand down, but I want to see her squirm. There’s no way that a little thing like her won’t.

When I finally make my appearance, I’m towering behind her. She hasn’t seen me, but she must feel my presence because I watch her back muscles tighten.

Slowly, and with purpose, she turns around to face me.

She has to crane her neck up, but when her gaze reaches mine, her pupils dilate.

I hadn’t come here tonight hoping to fuck, but after watching the way her mouth parts and a slight puff of oxygen escapes her pouty yet full lips, I want to fuck her. I want to feel those lips wrapped around my cock.

“I’m not interested,” she spits out before I can even speak. Her response has me throwing back my head, laughing—something I rarely do these days.

“You don’t even know what I was going to ask.”

“You were going to ask me if I wanted a drink. And seeing as I already have one …” She lifts the glass that I hadn’t previously seen in the air. It’s new, the bubbles still bouncing on the glass from the pour. “I don’t need another.”

“And what if you’re wrong?”

“So, you were coming to ask me if I wanted to… what?” Her eyebrow lifts. “Talk with you?”

“Again, wrong.” Not entirely wrong, but wrong enough.

“Well, color me intrigued. You came all the way here—”

“You noticed me.” I smirk, and she must realize her mistake, and my smile broadens. “Here’s what I think. I think you wanted me to come over here. I think you like the game of cat and mouse.”

“I think you know nothing.”

“Pity,” I say, before turning and walking away.

“That’s it?” she asks from behind me.

“Yep.” I turn my head over my shoulder. “But …” I pause for emphasis. “If you have a different answer for me, I’ll be back tomorrow. Same time. Same place.” And with that, I walk away, right out of the VIP area and then right out of the club.

Once we step outside, I stop. Turning to the right, I look at Cristian.

“Yes, Boss?”

“Her name. Her social security number. Find me everything there is to know about that woman by tomorrow.”

He doesn’t ask me why I need the info. I plan to fuck that girl, but I don’t touch anyone without doing my due diligence.

My Review…

This newest story from the talented mind of Ava Harrison is a lush, decadent thriller of a romance that had me hooked from page one!

This is the story of Alaric and Phoenix.  Two people from opposite sides of the same world.  They are both using each other until a catastrophe forces them to depend on each other and let old hatred lie.

From the deck of a superyacht to an uncharted deserted island, Ms. Harrison takes the readers on a beautiful and sometimes deadly journey.  Her words will take you there.

Alaric is on a hunt for justice and revenge.  He has hardened his heart and demands and expects loyalty from all who are in his empire. 

Phoenix is trying to right a wrong that has followed her family for years, she will do anything for the man who took her in as a child. 

When Alaric and Phoenix meet, well the sparks and daggers fly! It was a tumultuous beginning and to see their relationship develop was moving to read.

Hate is a strong word.

Depending on the company, loathe is a good substitute. Abhor might be a little fancy, but it gets the job done. But the word that really sums up how I feel about Liam Darcy is, without question, hate.

He doesn’t seem to think much of me either. The second he lays his fault-seeking eyes on me, he sets out to oppose me. Everything about him is imposing, as if he consumes the nearby air to power the rise and fall of his broad chest, and it’s clear he resents my presence on his advertising team. Every idea I have is shot down. Every olive branch I offer is set on fire by nothing more than the blistering coals he calls eyes.

In return, I light him up with my words.

It’s not as if he can dismiss me, since I work for his client, Wasted Words. Instead, he’s forced to tolerate me, which seems the closest we’ll ever be to friends. Fine by me.

I can be civil and still hate Liam Darcy.

But if there’s more to him than his exterior shows, I won’t be able to hate him at all. I might stumble over that line between love and hate and fall right into his arms.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

My Review…

This twenty-first century retelling of the classic Pride and Prejudice by Staci Hart is nothing short of spectacular!

Rather than rehash the storyline that any true Austen fan knows.  I want to fan-girl hard on the way that Ms. Hart has recrafted this tale with a fresh twist but staying true to the classic.

I was entranced by Liam Darcy, to be able to delve into his mind was amazing.  To see the inner struggle he had with his feelings and his sense of trust and loyalty made me love the character all the more. His brashness is a cover for how deeply he truly feels and it was beautiful to see how Laney was able to draw it out of him.

Laney Bennet is a firecracker! I have admired this character since the first book in this series.  I knew her story was going to be one for the ages and Ms. Hart didn’t disappoint. 

The chemistry between Liam and Laney was hotter than the hinges on Hades gate!  The sparks that flew between them could set the world on fire! It’s a thin line between love and hate indeed!

I also loved how Ms. Hart was able to spin in Jett’s story into the fabric and made it smooth like silk in the processes.  

This story is more than just a love story between two characters, it’s about family loyalties, it’s about how far is too far when it comes to your loved ones happiness and about finding your way back to where you belong, your home.
