Blurb

A young widow embraces a second chance at life when she reconnects with those who understand the sacrifices made by American soldiers and their families in award-winning author Laura Trentham’s The Military Wife.

Harper Lee Wilcox has been marking time in her hometown of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina since her husbandNoah Wilcox’s death, nearly five years earlier. With her son Ben turning five and living at home with her mother, Harper fights a growing restlessness, worried that moving on means leaving the memory of her husband behind.

Her best friend, Allison Teague, is dealing with struggles of her own. Her husband, a former SEAL that served with Noah, was injured while deployed and has come home physically healed but fighting PTSD. With three children underfoot and unable to help her husband, Allison is at her wit’s end.

In an effort to reenergize her own life, Harper sees an opportunity to help not only Allison but a network of other military wives eager to support her idea of starting a string of coffee houses close to military bases around the country.

In her pursuit of her dream, Harper crosses paths with Bennett Caldwell, Noah’s best friend and SEAL brother. A man who has a promise to keep, entangling their lives in ways neither of them can foresee. As her business grows so does an unexpected relationship with Bennett. Can Harper let go of her grief and build a future with Bennett even as the man they both loved haunts their pasts?

My Review…

This is a new to me author. I am so glad I got the opportunity to read and review this story.

I was a military wife for 18 years.  My husband, a combat veteran, retired after 22 years.

This story resonated with me on so many levels.

It’s a story of sisterhood, military wives banding together.

This is a story of love lost and love found. This is the story of Harper, Noah and Bennett.

Harper Lee has been through the worst thing to ever happen to a military wife.  Becoming a widow. She finds strength to continue from her son and mom.  She is a good friend and a fantastic mom.  She had a healthy, normal, not easy marriage to Noah and it’s described honestly and truthfully.

Bennett was a soldier. He has experienced the worst that could happen to a soldier. It has left scars and demons and promises that were made but never fully fulfilled.

The flow of the story is fantastic. The fluctuations between present and past were smooth and easy to follow.

The relationship between Harper and Bennett was moving and real.

This story made me laugh, made me cry and made me reminisce about my time as military wife.

Even if you have no experience in the military, read this story. It will give you a view of the world of military families and service members.

Well done, I cannot wait to see what you write next!

Title: In Too Deep
Series: Winter Games #4
Author: Dr. Rebecca Sharp
Genre: New Adult, Single-Dad, Enemies-to-lovers
Release Date: February 5, 2019
Nick
My life had been a series of unfortunate events:
Some of them out of my control, some of them entirely my fault.
I was only weeks away from being able to take my daughter and
finally be free from the past that had imprisoned us.
And then Tamsin Lucas showed up on my doorstep,
looking every inch the innocent angel yet begging to be ruined.
I told myself I could live not knowing her secrets or the reason for her hurt.
And I swore I could survive never touching her again.
Until I needed her to homeschool my daughter.
Now, I’m fighting to rein in my desire for the woman who’s always been perfect
and protect her from those who are out to destroy me.
Tammy was too good to want someone like me.
But what if I was too bad to care to stay away?

Tamsin

Making the right choice was the slogan for my life and the motto for my soul,
until all the right decisions led to a very wrong result.
In the moment when life felt like a catastrophe,
I ran to him. Nick Frost.
The callous man who was colder than the mountain
and possessed more secrets than it did snowflakes.
For one night, I traded sense for sensibility
and my well-kept order for his comfortable chaos.
I thought one night and one wrong choice would be enough
until he became my boss and wrong began to look a lot like right.
With every day that passes, I learn there’s more to his story than the world knows
and more to the unquenchable desire being written between us.
Nick was too bad to want someone like me.
But what if what we had was too good to keep me away?

I’d had too much to drink – which was saying a lot because I’d only had one drink, a Jameson and ginger ale, half of which still resided in my glass on the table in front of me. I silently chided myself that this was why I didn’t drink, but part of me was afraid, very afraid, that how I felt had nothing to do with the alcohol.

I looked out through the fog at the sea of smiles and laughs at the other patrons currently enjoying Karaoke night at Peak’s Pub, including my best friends, Jessa and Ally. Karaoke nights were always pretty busy at the pub but thankfully, we’d gotten here in time to grab a table by the front windows and relatively close to the stage; there was no way I could stand without crumbling over right now. There was a large, dark mahogany bar in the center of the room manned by the three usual bartenders who kept the crowd there under control.

I sucked in a loud breath as pain tightened the noose around my lower stomach, every beat from the speakers fell in time with the throbbing inside me. Any other day, I’d make my apologies and call a cab home, but tonight we were out celebrating Ally’s birthday. All day I’d hoped my body would fall in line with the general celebratory sentiment – just for one night – but of course, it hadn’t.

I sent my girls a reassuring smile as they glanced over at me from the floor in front of the stage with worry marring their happiness. Sitting up taller, I held up my glass as a small salute, and did my best to look like I wasn’t dying on the inside.

Everyone had their own trials in life, I just wished that mine were the kind that would still let me enjoy a night out. Instead, all I had to look forward to was more tests, more bloodwork, more fears, more words that I hated hearing, and leaving the doctor’s office with more questions than answers. The only thing I knew for sure was that something was very, very wrong.

‘We are going to talk about this, you know,’ Ally said to me earlier tonight and I promised her that I would, but it was a promise I didn’t want to keep. I’d been having a lot of pain lately and because of it, I’d spent so much time at the doctor’s, I was surprised no one started mistaking me for a member of the staff. Unfortunately, they still didn’t have answers and I didn’t have the strength to try to find some for Ally – or Jessa for that matter.

My hand stole over my stomach. Gosh, I really felt like crap. Why tonight of all nights? I just wanted to go out and have a great time with my girls for Ally’s birthday. Just one night…

But when it rains, it pours – or so it seemed lately.

I glanced up to see Ally’s older brother, Chance, and one of his best friends, Nick Frost strolling through the bar liked they owned the place – the locals might say that they did, being the SnowmassHoles and all…

The SnowmassHoles was the nickname given by a good portion of the town of Aspen to Chance Ryder and his best friends, Nick Frost and Emmett Jameson. They were the local snowboarding rulers of the Snowmass Resort and their attitudes garnered their infamy.

It started in high school when they would host late night snowboarding competitions that they called the ‘Winter Games’ at Snowmass after the resort had closed for the evening. They broke the rules but never got caught. The Games ended with graduation but they still referred to each other by their nicknames, even almost a decade later. Chance was dubbed ‘Pride,’ for being on his way to becoming the greatest snowboarder in the world, and, like the name, he’d fallen and was still trying to pick up the pieces. Emmett was deemed ‘King’ after beating Chance in one competition that Chance insisted he threw. And Nick… Well, Nick Frost was just called ‘Frost’ because the shimmering ice fit his person and his personality.

And it was a cold that always made me shiver.

You don’t care what he thinks about how you look, a small voice inside my head whispered as I averted my gaze from the most gorgeously cold man I’d ever known.

Nick Frost was a Casanova on ice – shaken, not stirred. And to me, he was the most breathtaking of them all. Messy, short brown hair, a jawline that was as dangerous and as sharp as his smile, and a body that I didn’t need to see without clothes on to know that it was as hard and as carved as an ice sculpture.

I wanted to see it, though, and sometimes, I dreamt about it – about him, the man whose chilling and unimpressed stare made my body melt.

He was so painfully beautiful. Unique. Just like a snowflake.

And just as exquisitely cold and crystalline.

Untouchable – disintegrating at the barest brush of real feeling.

And always falling. Always unable to be caught.

Harmless in singularity, except when I waited and watched and wished for too long. Then, he became an avalanche swallowing every perfectly ordered piece of me and spitting me back out into a mess of chaos that I couldn’t handle.

So, I mostly ignored and avoided him. It wasn’t hard; I liked my world the complete opposite of how it seemed he needed his.

His life was the lovechild of excess and cliché. Beautiful, rich boy who wanted for nothing, yet couldn’t seem to ever get enough – parties, women, drugs, and alcohol. And then, he went from high school cliché to sob-story when his dad died unexpectedly right at the end of high school; after that broken didn’t even begin to describe him. At that moment, what happened next was so critical to his future and healing – but whatever was needed to make him whole again, he didn’t get. And the things he shouldn’t want, but couldn’t seem to get enough of were poured on him like buckets of ice water on a football coach after winning the Super Bowl.

The parties were the kind that would have made Prince Harry take off his clothes. The girls, well, I guess I’ll just say there was a rumor that sleeping with Nick Frost was a graduation requirement since almost every girl had done it. Except me; and therein proof that the rumor was false. And the drugs… those got bad after graduation. I didn’t see the result… I didn’t want to. He’d gone from the bunny slopes of weed to the black diamonds of crack in world-record-setting time.

I’d never been to his house or his parties, so maybe these were all exaggerations… but I didn’t think he was that lucky. I, on the other hand, preferred to stay in the background, quietly watching from afar as the most beautiful man I’d ever seen was cut open by life and then proceeded to rip his own guts out. My only explanation for it all was that almost dying was the only thing that made him feel alive.

Chaos fed him; chaos sustained him. Whereas I needed structure and calm and security. I needed it in every aspect of my life because it kept being slowly stripped away from my body.

Tight jeans and a V-neck shirt. Hair that looked like a female had just had her hands buried knuckles deep in it while he was buried… I shook my head. His hair was sexy messy, let’s just leave it at that. In all, he could have passed for a rockstar – the look completed by the joint that half hung out of his front pocket.

I watched them greet the birthday girl, shocked a little when even Frost gave Ally a hug. The shock dissipated when he didn’t look twice at me. It was probably for the best.

“Are you actually drinking tonight, Tamsin?” Maybe I wasn’t that lucky. His voice was smooth, whiskey-covered words burned as I took them in. I didn’t like it when he spoke to me. It was rare – thankfully – but when it happened, my entire body forgot how to function.

I looked for someone to save me, but Chance had said something to Jessa and Ally seemed completely entranced by their interaction. Meanwhile, Nick had stepped right next to me so I doubted any of them could’ve heard what he said.

I shifted in my seat, momentarily forgetting about my stomach cramps. His face was so close – too close – to mine.

“I am,” I gulped, taking another sip of the drink that I shouldn’t be drinking. In punishment, the pangs in my lower abdomen returned with full force, but I definitely wouldn’t let him see my discomfort.

“So, you’re going to let me take you home, then?”

I almost spit out my drink. “Excuse me?”

My whole body trembled. I must have misheard. Nick Frost would never have said that to me. Of all the women in the world, I was not the one that he wanted.

“Tonight,” he repeated calmly. “You’re going to let me take you home, wrap those long legs around my waist, and let me find out if your pussy is as tight as the lid you lock over your control.” He looked down at the drink in my hand. “I figure if you are drinking, tonight is my best shot at making that happen.”

I stared for an awkwardly long amount of time. I couldn’t be hearing him correctly. Nick Frost. Who never had two words to rub together for me, let alone two nice ones, just calmly requested to spend the night inside of me. Technically, he didn’t really request…

“I… umm…” I shook my head. “N-no. No, thank you. Sorry.”

Did I just say ‘no, thank you’ to having sex? Excuse me – to having sex with the hottest jerk this side of Snowmass? Maybe I was drunk. That would explain all of this. It was the only thing that would explain all of this. I was drunk and delusional.

“Alright, Miss Priss.” He swallowed a sneer, enjoying his nickname for me far more than I liked, and shrugged like my answer made no difference to him; he’d just find someone else to sleep with tonight. I felt a small twinge in my tummy – a different kind of twinge from the cramps I’d been experiencing all night, but still painful.

Sadness. Jealousy. Longing. An ache for every dirty and delicious thing that I’d ever heard about him to be done to me.

He nodded to the crowd forming by the stage, saying, “Then pick her.”

Was it the alcohol or was I always this obtuse when he tried to talk to me?

“Pick who?” I squeaked out, bringing my cup to my mouth for another sip. Someone needed to take this drink away from me.

A smirk spread over his face like water slowly freezing. “Pick the woman I’m going to fuck tonight while I’m thinking of you.”

My mouthful of watered-down cocktail spewed back into my glass, only serving to widen his smile, as my cheeks flamed at his insinuation. It was horrible and wrong.

Yet, the part of me that only I had ever touched clenched at the notion that he wanted to think of me while he was screwing someone else. It was a horribly satisfying feeling – dirty and bad and everything that I shouldn’t want to feel but craved more of.

His amused pale blue eyes fell from mine with a sigh. I knew what he thought. That I was all prim and proper and dutifully horrified by his suggestion. Most days and for most people, Tamsin Lucas would have scoffed and scolded. But today was not most days – today a part of me knew I was getting sicker and today I’d ordered a cocktail to try to forget. And most days, Frost wasn’t most people. In fact, at times like this, he was the only person.

All that to say, “Her.”

I felt the spark pass between us as the word slipped from my lips. His head jerked to mine and his eyes narrowed, disbelieving what his ears had heard.

“Her,” I repeated, my eyes gliding over to a buxom blonde who had a t-shirt on that said ‘#askingforit.’ Because that was so classy. Perfect choice for Frost. I couldn’t stop my eyes from rolling, both because of her careless choice of attire and then as I watched his eyes drip languidly over her body.

Looking back at me, his slight nod was cut off by Chance, who was still talking to his sister but moving in the direction of the bar.

“When you decide you’re tired of being so put together, give me a call. I promise, I will make falling apart be the best fucking thing to ever happen to you,” he rasped; but it was the look in his eyes that strangled the breath coming from my lungs – the one that said it was all he was ever waiting for.

My Review…

A Winter Games Novel

Oh these Snowmassholes….(read the series, you will know what I mean) of them all, I know I love Nick Frost the mostest!

In Too Deep is the story I have been waiting, oh so patiently for, of Nick and Tamsin.

I admired Tammy’s quiet strength.  I could empathize with her need for rules and her OCD tendencies. Her need for control when parts of her life were uncontrollable.

I also admired Nick’s protective streak, even when it was a detriment to himself and those around him.  I also empathized with his need to try to control the uncontrollable in his world.  He is a complicated chaos personified and just what Tamsin needed.

I loved the slow burn aspect of Nick and Tammy’s relationship.  You could see how hard Nick was trying to “protect” Tammy from himself at the expense of himself.  You could feel Tammy’s loving and caring for both Nick and Lila, even at the expense of herself.

The words and deeds that Nick gave to Tammy were swoony and absolutely amazing…I am not going to quote the book and spoil it, but trust me when you read his words to her…just swoon, melt and whew….

This book is part of a series, true, but can totally be read as a stand alone.  Don’t let the series part scare you into not reading this book! It’s amazing, moving and just wow.

From USA Today bestselling author W Winters comes a heart-wrenching, edge-of-your-seat gripping, romantic suspense.

I saw her from across the bar.
My bar. My city. Everything in that world belonged to me.
She stood out from the crowd like she was looking for someone to blame for her pain.

That night, I felt the depths of my mistakes. I felt my scars. With a single glance, I knew her touch would take it all away. I craved it more than anything.

I knew she would be a tempting, beautiful mistake.
One I would make again and again… even if it cost me everything.

My Review…

Oh Ms. Winters…you are the reigning queen of the tease!!

This is the story I have been waiting for! Jase Cross’s story and what a beginning to that story it is!

Jase and Bethany begin their journey.  Both crippled by loss, both have some big walls built around them.

Secrets and lies abound in this story.  How Bethany and Jase navigate this is fascinating.

The moments between them are oh so steamy and I honestly can say I learned a few new things!  It was amazing!

Ms. Winters, like I said above is the queen of the tease and she ends this on a cliff as sheer as they come and I am waiting on tenterhooks to see what comes next!

If you are looking to start a new series by W. Winters, pick up this book! Get sucked into the world she creates and it won’t let you go until Ms. Winters is ready to!

Motorcycles, drugs, sex, parties, dancing, and more sex!

Scott Hildreth’s newest MC Romance, RENO, is LIVE and ready for you to enjoy.

Blurb

A psychotic kidnapper with a gun. A blindfolded ride to a ruthless drug dealer’s compound. Torture. A slow death. These were the things that were waiting for me in the parking lot while I worked the evening shift of what was sure to be my last day on earth.

Then, he came in for dinner.

He had a loud Harley-Davidson, a dry sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and seven friends.

All he wanted was an enchilada dinner.

But. He was my only hope.

So, I handed him his meal, gestured to the parking lot, and told him my story.

As he sauntered toward the parking lot no differently than he would have walked into a bar, I wondered just who this man could be.

Finding the answer to that question wasn’t as easy as a person might think.

But it was the best ride of my life.

My Review…

So much goodness and utter “Hildrethness” in this story!

Reno, member of the the Devils Disciples, finally gets his story!

There is so much to this story I don’t know where to begin. First I have to applaud Scott’s sensitivity and tact when it comes to military veterans. Especially combat veterans. I am married to a combat vet so I have first hand knowledge of PTSD and the challenges that face veterans when they come home from war.

I also admire how Scott is able to tackle real world issues in a way that you can see both sides of the issue. It is a fine line to balance and Scott does so, beautifully.

The humor in this story is fantastic! I loved reading about past characters from his books! It was like a mini biker reunion and we were all invited!

And lets not forget the love story between Reno and Carma! It’s edgy, it’s sweet and I love how Scott writes his heroines to be just as badass as his heroes!

You cannot go wrong with a Scott Hildreth story! I fell in love hard with Reno. You will too!

Tangled IN YOU teaser EXCERPT:

I feel a twinge of guilt as I kiss little Ethan goodbye. “Have a nice day, munchkin, listen to your dad.”

He embraces me, meshing his body tightly around me as I hold his small form, and then raises his arms for Daddy to pick him up. My heart sinks in my chest at Nate’s disheartened expression. “I’m not going, love. Have fun with your dad, all right?” I wink at him, trying to lighten up his mood, then kiss his cheek and squeeze his shoulders.

He nods his head, smiling sadly, then hops down the steps to the car without a single word. Sam straps Ethan in and gives me a kiss, but Nate ignores me, sulking in the back seat. I watch them as they drive away, and wave before heading back into the house.

Late in the evening, the bell buzzes, demanding my immediate attention, and I get a terrible feeling; a sense of foreboding churns in my guts. The ringing bell is a warning. Growing dread stirs my heart into skipping a beat and my stomach coils into a tight fist, but I refuse to acknowledge any of it. At least this way, I can pretend and hope.

Unwillingly, I walk towards the door, trying to shake the fear rapidly encasing my senses. My heart squeezes in warning, as if attempting to prevent unlocking the gates to the agony.

Before I reach the door, I stop for a minute to compose myself, as the bell sounds a second time. My legs start to shake and my anxious heart races in my throat. The air, saturated with sharp dread, presses on my shoulders. Warning tingles in my limbs, making them feel heavy. An erratic pulse thrums loudly in my ears, and I start to sway on my wobbly feet. Black spots begin to appear before my eyes.

Then I open the door. I know I shouldn’t, but somehow, I do. With a numb smile plastered on my face, I welcome the dark messengers.

I can’t hear their voices, the mind that floats with cold detachment refusing to understand. Cocooned from the truth, I am shrouded in the welcoming silence. Nothing can touch or break me. It makes me feel content to stay in here, and I don’t fight it.

“Sandra, can you hear me? Where have you been? Are you ok?”

From afar, I can hear them calling me, but I am unable to form any sort of reply. As they stand before me, trembling, they grip my hands, demanding for me to hear them out. My paper white-colored face is frozen in limbo, incapable of grasping what is happening. I watch people rushing towards my home, shouting, crying.

The message was grave.

Soul-shattering. Unraveling. Unmaking.

My eyes fill and overflow, pouring hot substance down my cheeks. Rivulets of the hot tears meet at my chin.

Burning. Freezing. Undoing.

The vision of my little boy, like a message from the other world, comes to me.

“Let’s go, Mummy…” The phantom voice of my child distracts me from the reality happening in front of my eyes. A small hand envelops mine. I look down, and Ethan is smiling at me, a peaceful reflection in his eyes.

“It is ok, Mummy. He won’t cry for long. I am waiting for him, you know? You should go home and rest.” Astounded by his calm and heartwarming smile, I know that he is right.

The vision fades and the overwhelming need to block the rushing world crashes into me. Willingly, I surrender to the nurturing darkness, afraid to accept the truth. This way, I can still pretend my family will come back home, that this is just a nightmare.

“They died in the car accident…” the policeman’s sympathetic voice tells me. I feel like screaming on the inside, thrashing, my soul bleeding, as I refuse to accept the reality. It doesn’t seem real to me.

But when it finally did, my family was horrified by the darkness, and my inability to cope with grief.

“We think you need professional help, Sandra. The hospital might give you a break from grief…” That was what my mother’s determined voice said before my family broke my trust.

I should never have let them see it—my pain and my shattered soul. I had no time to hide. They subdued me and took away my freedom, locking me away in the mental hospital.

The fear remade me, agony imprisoned me. After that, I hid my pain from everyone. Darkness became my shelter. She became me.

But then I hear them. My children, calling me back. I will reunite us, Cassandra better let me.

“Nate! Ethan! Where are you?” I hear their giggles, and then screams mixing in unison. Their fear is shattering my heart. I can’t reach them, she is fighting me. I will have to force the memories into her heart.

“Mummy please, I am scared!”

Nate’s screams echo, calling me to save them, and I whimper. I abandoned them, but no more. We are coming back to reclaim our rightful place—the heart, where we should be.

Soon I’ll be free, and we will reunite. The terror, shame, and guilt will remake or break us. Everyone will see who we are. I belong to her, she belongs to me. We both are the same. I refuse to stay in the darkness. I will claim back my life, even if it kills us both in the process. I have nothing to lose, but she does.

You can taste my rage, Cassandra.

I can feel your fear. It’s choking you. You can be free, just give in.

Never! Enough!

My Review…

Wow!! What an introduction to a new and new to me author!

This story is going to put your heart through the wringer.

This is the story of Cassandra/Sandra and Logan.

Cassandra/Sandra is the same but totally different person.  Sandra has been through one of the most horrific things a person can go through.  She is barely able to function and because of some poor yet drastic measures by her family, she has tried to become a different person, Cassandra.  Cassandra is a “normal” as she can make herself.  But at what cost?

Logan is the epitome of an alpha male.  Swagger, confidence and goes after what he wants with gusto.  He sees Cassandra and wants all of her, broken pieces and all.

This debut novel is going to grab you and hold on to your senses till the very end!  The ending is going to make you shake your fists a bit, but the author promises to calm you down soon.

Bravo and well done with your first novel Ms. Night! I look forward to reading the conclusion on this duet!

An all-new STANDALONE from New York Times bestselling author Julia Kent
It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.
I’m a professional fluffer. It’s NOT what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits. Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I’ll wait.
See? That’s the problem. My career has used the term “fluffer” for decades. I didn’t even know there was a more… lascivious definition of the term.
Until it was too late.
The ad for a “professional fluffer” on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day.
The perfect job!
Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a “fluffer” doesn’t arrange decorative pillows on a couch.
They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.
The job isn’t hard. Er, I mean, it is — it’s about being hard. Or, well…helping other people to be hard.
Oh, man…
And that’s the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham – my high school crush. The owner of the house where we’re filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.
By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with a naked star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.
My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what’s easier than I ever imagined?
Having all my dreams come true.

I watch a blonde woman talk up Will like she wants to take him home and turn him into her evening protein shake. She’s wearing lululemon tights and Jimmy Choos, an
unusual combination that seems to indicate she’s ready for anything.
Clap clap!
A man in a tight, black Lycra shirt, grey fitted slacks, and the most beautiful Italian leather shoes I have ever seen glides like melting cheese on a raclette into the center of the ballroom.
“Hello, hello! My name is Philippe, and I am your instructor tonight. Welcome! Two more minutes for refreshments, and then we DANCE!” The word DANCE comes out of his mouth in capital letters.
Philippe heads straight toward me, eyes meeting mine, his dark, wavy hair slicked off
his face with curls escaping at the nape of the neck, a perfectly manscaped moustache adding to his rakish look.
“And you are?” he asks, the words a demand to reveal my soul.
“Uh, Mallory.”
“Uh, Mallory, it is nice to meet you.”
“It’s just Mallory.”
“Are you Uh, Mallory, or Just Mallory?” he asks, mouth pursing with amusement.
I cannot tell whether I like him or hate him.
“Mallory.”
Eyeing me up and down, his expression changes to approval when he sees my shoes. “You have come prepared.”
Will chooses that exact moment to walk over, a lemonade in each hand, and offer me
one. I smile a thank you as Philippe watches us like he’s judging a couple on So You Think You Can Dance.
“You are here together?” he asks.
“OH, NO!” I call out, as if it’s the word DANCE. “I’m waiting for my date.”
“Date?”
“First date, actually. I don’t know what he looks like, but…”
“Was his name David, by any chance?” Philippe asks, mouth twisted with disgust.
“Yes!”
“Corporate,” he hisses. “Again!”
Will exchanges a confused look with me, then takes a sip of his lemonade, choosing to stay out of this. One hand goes to his hip as he politely looks away, drinking like it’s his job.
“Excuse me?” I ask Philippe.
“Did you meet him–this David–on an online dating service?”
“Yes.”
Philippe takes my hand as if I’m a mourning widow at her beloved husband’s wake. “Then I am sorry to inform you, Mallory, that David is not coming.”
“Why not?”
“Because David is a salesman.”
“No, he’s not! He’s a conversion consultant.”
Will’s mouth tightens as if he knows something.
“Mallory,” Philippe says sadly, “David works for the corporation that owns Bailargo. He is one of their best salesmen.” Anger flashes in his eyes. “Because he toys with
women’s emotions and sets them up for this.”
“This?”
Gesturing at me, he says, “This. You. The poor, lonely single woman looking for love on apps.”
“HEY!”
“Watch,” he says, clapping twice again. “Are any women here for a date with David? First date?”
Two hands go up.
“Oh, God,” I mutter, my hands flying to cover my burning hot, deeply embarrassed face. “What does this mean?”
“David has developed a new technique. He goes to dating apps and pretends to be original, asking women to have a first date at a dance lesson. He is charming and funny and–”
A feral sound comes out of my mouth.
“Sound familiar?” Will asks, reaching up to run a hand through his hair, looking really sympathetic on my behalf.
Which makes me feel even stupider.
“And then the women come here, there is no David, but some of them stay for class,”
Philippe finishes.
“You’re telling me your corporate headquarters is hiring a guy who goes on dating sites and convinces single women to come to a dance class with him, then ghosts on
them? On the chance that a certain percentage of us will sign up for dance lessons and convert to paying customers?” My voice goes higher and higher, until I start sounding like Mariah Carey the second everyone finishes Thanksgiving dinner and it’s time for her songs to start on the radio again.
“Yes.”
“That’s horrible!” I cry.
“That’s ingenious,” Will says. My glare makes him add quickly, “And completely unethical, of course. Some men are disgusting pigs.” His brow drops, eyes troubled with vicarious empathy, but they move in patterns that tell me he’s processing this information and finds David’s business acumen to be worthy of note.
“If you will excuse me, I need to find some tissues for those two women who are, like
you, expecting a date with the charming David. Since he started doing this four
months ago, sales have increased eleven percent, but my operating supplies have
gone up 286 percent with all the tissues!” Philippe glides across the floor and
approaches the two women, who are whispering and comparing phone screens.
Bet mine makes us triplets.

One thing Rose didn’t expect to find before going back home to Australia:

Excerpt

Rose: Run into any nice girls at the supermarket today?
Liam: No. And I went back the last couple of days in the hopes of seeing you again.
Rose: Ugh, we’ll have to start comparing shopping schedules then.
Liam: Definitely. How was your day?
Rose: Good. Long.
Rose: You?
Liam: Same. Had to put a cat down today.
Rose: I’m sorry. That has to suck.
Liam: It does. I mean, I know it’s for the best, but I don’t like watching the goodbyes.
Rose: No, I wouldn’t either.
Rose: Want me to tell you a joke to cheer you up?
Liam: I’d rather come over there and see you, but…
Liam: Okay. Since you’re offering.
Rose: Knock knock.
The knocking on his front door came at the same moment as Rose’s text, and he couldn’t help the surge of excitement that jolted through him. It’s her.
He didn’t know how he knew, or why he was so certain, given that she didn’t know his address, and yet . . . he knew.
Liam: Someone’s at the door. Hold on.
Rose: Um, that’s not how the joke goes.
Rose: You’re supposed to say who’s there.
He smiled at her faux-indignation evidenced by the GIF of a woman dramatically slamming her hands on her hips. Thought they’d only know each other a short while, he could hear her voice—that accent—in his mind, telling him he was ruining her joke. And moreover, he liked it.
He liked her being the voice in his head.
The knocking at the front door sounded again, a little more impatient, and he wondered if she was rolling her eyes at him. Probably. He’d noticed that she had a tendency to do that.
“Hey,” he greeted her as he opened the door, reaching out to grab her into a hug immediately.
She came willingly, wrapping her arms around him, a smile on her face. Except she didn’t settle into him. No, she pulled her head and narrowed her pretty eyes at him. “How did you know it was me?”
“Intuition.”
“Seriously?” She looked skeptical, and rightly so.
Except . . . it was true. “I just had a feeling, is all. That and I wanted it to be you.” He shrugged. “Isn’t that the secret? If you want something badly enough, you make it happen?”
Shaking her head, she replied, “No, I don’t think so.”
“Well, it’s my secret, how about that?”
“That’s your secret?”
“Sure, why not?”
“I thought for sure you’d have something darker, way more sinister for a secret.”
“Oh, well, yeah. Obviously I have a dark, terrifying secret, too. But this is my other secret. You know, the one I let you find out early into the relationship, so I can fool you into trusting me.”
“Ah, gotcha.”
“Did it work?”
She smiled up at him, then leaned in for a brief kiss. It was just a press of lips, no longer than a half-second, and yet, Liam felt it with his whole being. “It definitely did.”
He planted another kiss on her, this one slightly longer, before nodding. “Excellent. My plan to corrupt you remains on track.”

Genre: Sexy Romantic Comedy

 Release Date: February 1, 2019

Blurb

The man could charm the panties off of a nun…Nick Murphy. Hockey god. My best friend’s big brother. My friend-with-mindblowing-benefits.
The best thing to happen to my nether regions since my subscription to the toy of the month club. The man I’ve been secretly in love with for years.

And total ass.

I am so done with him.

Except there’s one small problem.

Now that I’ve cut him off, his hockey game is in the toilet. He’s convinced I’m his good luck charm, and he wants me back. But only for his game.

I’ll be strong. I will. I’ll resist.

Asses don’t change their stripes.

Or do they?

This plan would be so easy if the man wasn’t Charming as Puck…

Charming as Puck is a romping fun romance between a hockey player and his sister’s best friend, complete with farm animals, over the top birthday presents, and Berger Twin sightings. This romantic comedy stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers and ends with a pucking awesome happily ever after.

My Review…

You need a good laugh? Need a good smexy yet sweet romance? Look no further! You will find it in the newest book, Charming as Puck by Pippa Grant!

This is the story of Nick & Kami. And what a fabulous story it is! It’s the quintessential “You don’t know what you’ve got, until it’s gone” (And now I am humming Guns N Roses) story.

Kami knows what she wants and when she feels like she isn’t going to get it with her current friends with benefits relationship with Nick. She is brave and strong and says no more. Then she walks! Girl power!!

Nick is the epitome of a famous athlete. He is selfish and thinks of nothing but hockey and pranking his teammates in the most evil way possible. He thinks what he has with Kami is perfection and he couldn’t be more wrong. He realizes too late that he has been taking advantage of Kami’s nature and body selfishly. And he is planning to make amends. Which he does in the most epic and sweetest way possible!

From cow-dogs, to glitter bombs, this story has everything you didn’t know you needed in a story! You are gonna laugh out loud and swoon so hard you will need to make sure you have a soft place to fall!

It was fantastic to see all the past characters make there presence known in the story, they bring so much more! I so wish I could be a part of their magical world, but alas I have to just read about it and I am honored that I got to!!

As always, this can totally be read as a stand alone! I have just been lucky enough to read them all and am able to enjoy this story just a bit more.

I am excited to be a part of this!! I will be hosting on Sunday, February 3 at 7:30 pm!

I hope you can come and check it out! I will be posting a giveaway there!!
