I scan the dance floor, looking for anyone I might know so I won’t be bored out of my mind.

That’s when I see her.

My heart tries to pound its way out of my chest.

Quinn walks toward the door in a sinful green dress that hugs her body in all the right places. My cock twitches and starts to rise at the sight. God, I’ve never seen her look so fucking hot. She’s like supermodel fucking beautiful.

Just as my mind races to think of how and where I could fuck her in the club and take our sexcapades to a whole new level, some asshole wraps his arm around her waist and yanks her close to him.

My blood heats to a million degrees and I wouldn’t be surprised if steam shoots out of my ears. That son of a bitch is touching what’s mine.

I take off for the stairs.

It doesn’t take long for me to practically sprint toward her. I knock a few people out of the way and spill their drinks, but I don’t give a shit. I move toward the exit, attempting to track her every move but I keep losing sight of her. Just as I start to intervene, she scoffs at the guy and takes off toward the bathroom.

That’s my girl.

He stares at her as she navigates through the crowd toward the ladies’ room.

“You can fuck right off, sir.” I mutter the words under my breath and angle to cut her off before she gets to her destination.

Just as she’s about to enter the bathroom, I grip her forearm and pull her over to the corner.

Her eyes dart around for a second, and she looks like she might scream. Then her stare lands on my face. Her tempting lips form an amused grin and she shakes her head. “What are you doing here?”

I rake my eyes up and down her dress and try not to blow a load in my pants just at the sight of her. “Me?” I raise my brows at her.

Our gazes lock and I lick my lips wanting nothing more than to shove her against the wall and have my way with her.

“You on a date?”

“What if I am?”

“I’d want to know his Jedi secrets since you keep turning me down.”

She shakes her head in a playful way. “Maybe he’s just nice and acts like a grown up.”

I shrug and flash her a smile. “Unfortunate for him.”

“Oh really?” She grins, clearly amused with our conversation. “Because he landed a date with me and you couldn’t?”

“Absolutely.”

“And why would that be unfortunate for him? I’m dying to know.”

“Because he did all that work. Acted like such an adult. Probably took you to dinner, picked you up, drove you here.” I lean in close, so she can feel my warm breath in her ear. “And I’ll be the one who takes you home and fucks you.”

A Cocky Suits Novel

Whew! This story starts off with a bang! (Wink, wink)

This is Deacon & Quinn’s story.  Now you get a bit of hint about them in Cocky Playboy and I was excited to get my hands on their story! Not don’t be afraid each book can be read as a stand-alone, but you just get more if you read them all!

Quinn is a flippin rockstar! I admire the way that Mr. Howell and Mr. Wolf write their heroines. They write their heroines with strength and tenacity!  This writing duo doesn’t pander or patronize the female readers.  So I tip my hat to you for that!  Quinn is trying to juggle her whole world on her shoulders and doesn’t need a player like Deacon to add more to her struggles.  However, she has a soft spot for him and loves the physicality of their relationship and wants to keep it just like it is.

Deacon Collins, he’s a bit of an enigma. But one thing is crystal clear, his want of Quinn.  He wants more, more, more and will stop at nothing to have it all with Quinn.  Even if it’s Quinn herself that stands in his way!

The dialogue is witty and smart, the chemistry between Deacon and Quinn is hotter than the hinges on Hades gate!!

My Review…

I am soooo loving this series from Ms. Blakely.  I love the cast of characters and the world she created with them!

Overnight Service is Josh and Haven’s story.  A thin line between love and hate is what this story is all about. This story is filled with humor, heat and oh the swoons!

Josh and Haven both have that competitive edge that nearly broke them.  Their constant need to “hate” each other is what fuels them to be the best sports agents around.

Haven is a powerhouse, she is a kick-a$$ woman breaking the glass ceiling in a male-dominated workplace. I also applaud her openness and her upfrontness about what her favorite things are and the man that can give it to her!

Josh is a powerhouse in his own right, he also sees the misogynistic ways of the people he works for and with.  That really messes with his head and his heart.  His feelings for Haven is what motivates him and that’s what makes him especially swoony!

Another stellar story set in a fantastic world!  Well done Ms. Blakely, well done!

Ms. Cherry, you have done it again.  You have wrecked my heart and made it whole again. Your story has touched my soul and made me see that you are not alone in the world.

This story of Landon and Shay was full of issues that made me cry, made me laugh and yes even brought more of an understanding to myself and those around me.  This story touched me on a personal level and shone a light on subjects that have been in the dark for far too long.

This is a story of friendships, a story of heartbreak.  This is also a story of love, redemption and hope, above all else hope.

I can understand why Ms. Cherry decided that Landon and Shay couldn’t be contained to just one book….this story deserves and demands to be more.

You have to read this story slowly, you will see the writing on the wall, you will see the twist if you really look and it’s gonna break you all over again.  But as Mima says “Be brave, my love. Be strong. Be kind. And stay” Stay with this story till the very end.

But most importantly….“Go slow”  (The quotes in this story will stay with me for a long, long time)

Facing what’s estimated to be over sixty-seven thousand people with my favorite guitar strapped snug against me, I prepare to sing my final song.

Standing up here in front of thousands of fans is second nature. I performed in countless dive bars before breaking onto the scene and securing my first record deal, then moving on to sold-out world tours. Which means I shouldn’t have sweaty palms like a preteen working up the nerve to talk to her crush.

My heart shouldn’t be racing like a horse competing in the Kentucky Derby.

My stomach shouldn’t churn as though I’ve eaten ceviche from a questionable food truck.

Tremors shouldn’t affect my hands like a virgin embarking on their deflowering.

None of this should be afflicting me. But it is.

Because of him.

Because of the current state of my heart.

But this is how I deal with heartache. With tragedy. With…life.

“This is a little different, and I hope you like it,” I rasp into the mic. Noise from the cheering fans is deafening, and like every time I perform, the surreal quality never quite fades.

Tonight marks the first time I’ll share a song I wrote about someone who eviscerated my heart entirely. My other relationships—and subsequent failures—pale in comparison.

Yet when I write lyrics that are the closest thing to
ripping out my heart and putting it on display for the world, I receive the
“She’s probably selfish and put her career first” or “She probably cheated, and
now she’s regretting it” or “Mm. So sad. The Ice Princess of Pop is
heartbroken.”

My response? Fuck that noise. I’m writing from my heart and soul, regardless of how damaged they might be at any given time. And as long as my fans continue to support me, I’m going to keep on keepin’ on.

“I’d like to dedicate this song to a special person.” I duck my chin, willing myself to maintain composure. “It’s called ‘Embers.’”

Once I strum the first note on my guitar, everything around me fades. My voice emerges from the shards scattered within my chest where my working heart once was.

When I play that final chord, I see tears streaming down the faces of the fans in the front rows. And yet again, I’m reminded of something all too easily forgotten. That there are others who can relate to lyrics written from my soul’s breath.

Because in heartache, we’re never truly alone.

My Review…

R.C Boldt has magic to her words.  She brings more magic with this story of Kane and Simone.

Simone is the “Ice Princess of Pop” but she is so much more.  She is an admirable character with an inner strength and fortitude.  I loved her fragile heart and what she does for her inner circle of people she loves.

Kane is nursing heartbreak.  He needs to get away from his current world and gets the opportunity to protect Simone.

This is a lovely written story about two scarred hearts who find solace in each other.  This is also the story of trust and preconceived notions that tend to lead to the wrong conclusions.

The chemistry between Kane and Simone is like a house on fire. I loved the bit of the slow burn and the friendship that started it all.  It was lovely to see Kane realize all the different layers of Simone.  It was also lovely to see Simone work at trusting Kane into her inner circle.

This wouldn’t be an R.C. Boldt story without a bit of angst and some sadness.  This story gave me all the feels! It will give you all the feels too.

The secondary characters are phenomenal and bring even more dimension and charm to the story.

Another stellar story by Ms. Boldt! Get your hands on this!

Talbott’s Cove

I just love revisiting Talbott’s cove. And this fast, dirty and sassy story of Neera and Gus is just the fix I needed!

The flow of Neera and Gus’s relationship is sharp and jagged, but also so, so perfect for the two of them.

I loved Gus’s determination to get Neera and to give her what she needed. He pushed her to show her that she needed to be “seen” and he did it in such holy hotness ways!

Neera has been a “kingmaker” her whole adult career. Taking care of others and was content to stand in the shadows.  Then Gus comes along and shines a bright and colorful world that she could live in.

Smart, funny romance is what you get from Ms. Canterbary and this story is both!  Well done!
