My Review…

I had been waiting so patiently for this book. The fantastic ending to the Survival of the Richest Series.

The Evolution of Man is the continuing story of Harper, Christopher and Sutton. What made this story really grab me was the grittiness, the down and dirty, the hurt and loss. It made my heart bleed.

I could feel the emotional turmoil of the artist in Harper. I could feel the heartbreak in Sutton. I could feel the vulnerability that Christopher kept hidden so well.

The library was such a good metaphor for this story. The beauty, the destruction and the truth of being able to fix what was broken.

This story was deep, you have to savor the words like a fine wine. Ms. Warren really grabs you by the soul in this story. She drags you through her words and makes you feel, which is a true testament to a fine story teller.

The final chapter was beautiful. It was rich in imagery and a beautiful end to such a tragic tale.

This story and the other stories in this series were phenomenal! I cannot wait to see what Ms. Warren comes out with next! (You may get something sooner, rather than later…that’s the only spoilerish thing you will get from me!!)

Chick Flicks Club

Oh how I love this first book in the new series! Every gal needs their own chick flick club and tribe of friends that have your back and will help bury the bodies!

This story is about Gemma (who we met briefly in Man Candy) and Zach.

Gemma is such a sweetheart, always seeing the positive, but don’t take that as weakness! She is strong and loyal and will fight with the best of them. She loves her friends and she tolerates her “Bigfoot” neighbor Zach, at least in the beginning.

Zach is recovering from his ex and is embracing his single life by living like he was in college. He kicks cleanliness and personal grooming to the wayside and embraces his nickname that Gemma bestows on him. He thinks he is over his ex, but is he? Read and see!

I love the humor in Ms. Monroe’s stories! They are outrageously funny! Add to that the romance and off the charts steaminess and you get one helluva story!

Underneath all the hair and sloppiness of Zach beats the heart of a true romantic and with the help of Gemma, he finds it again.

The secondary characters are phenomenal and bring such humor and levity to the story! I cannot wait to see what comes of them as each new story comes out!

“Now, now, you two stop it. My word, sometimes I feel like you two are back in elementary school the way you bicker. We are here to cheer Aria up, smile, laugh,” she says coming closer. She places her hands on the table, palms down, and leans toward the three of us. “Be nice,” she says in a low, serious tone directed at Roman and Leeza, not me. Her faces switches from stern to sweet when her eyes move to me. “Tell me, poor dear, how did you injure your head in the first place? We haven’t had time to really chat and get to know each other.”

Roman coughs and clears his throat. With a twinkle in his eye, he stands to help Ella who has just arrived with our dinner. He loves the thought of me explaining how I came to knock myself out drinking in his shower.

“Well, it’s kind of embarrassing actually.”

“Oh well, I don’t want to embarrass you. How did you two meet?”

Oh great, one embarrassing story to the next. “You remember, don’t you? I was at the resort, and Roman overheard me telling the desk clerk that I was traveling alone. He struck up a conversation, and here we are, not very exciting, I’m afraid.”

“Oh come now, it wasn’t quite like that.” Roman is spreading a tablecloth on the table listening to my altered version of our story. “Tell her the truth, Mom will understand.”

Julia’s eyebrows pop up intrigued to hear the truth.

I grip the sheets at my sides and dive in thinking of how many ways I can torture Roman from this bed later on for pushing me into this uncomfortable position.

“Well, as you already know, I was on my honeymoon alone. My ex-fiancé was on the phone at the front desk, and the clerk came to my room to encourage me to answer his call. He was worried David, that’s my ex, would come to the resort and cause a scene if I didn’t. Roman happened by and,” I pause suddenly wondering if Roman had actually happened by at all. “Wait, did you know David was on the phone? Were you following that clerk to my room?” I ask Roman who is now wearing a sly grin.

“I followed you to Mexico. I knew what room you were in, and yes, I knew it was David on the phone. There was no way I was going to let him disturb you, but it was the perfect way to come to your rescue, don’t you think?”

This is why he wanted me to tell our story, to point out that our meeting wasn’t an accident after all.

“Nice. Now I have to think of our meeting as a setup instead of fate. I guess I should have realized after you told me you’d been watching me like a creepy stalker for six years.”

“Oh, she got you there, Mufasa,” Leeza taunts grinning.

Roman straightens up and points at his sister. “Shut up, Leeza.” Then he switches his focus to me. “I’ll have you know I was not stalking you. Think of me as your guardian angel. I was merely keeping my eye on you to make sure you were safe.”

“I’m an intelligent, educated, grown woman. I didn’t nor do I now need a guardian angel watching over me to make sure I’m safe.” My words are delivered with a smidge more venom than I had intended, but he gets the point. I’m irritated, back off.

“Touché, Ms. Savage, touché.” He rounds the table and leans over his mother to kiss me ever so gently on the mouth. An apology of sorts, the only kind of apology Roman gives, I imagine.

Julia sighs like a love-sick teenager swooning over a rock star. “I like the two of you together. You don’t put up with my son’s overbearing ways, and he has learned how to say ‘I’m sorry’ with a kiss.”

“I know how to apologize, Mother. And that was not an apology kiss,it was a let’s call it even kiss for your information.” He looks at me, and I know he’s full of shit. He may not admit it, but he just said I’m sorry.

Redemption Series Book 2

Wow!! What a conclusion to a fantastical angsty series!!

The story continues with Brooklyn, Andrew and Wes. This story picks up right where the first one ends.

The fight and heartbreak the characters have to face and overcome is such a emotional rollercoaster. I could feel myself tearing up when I was reading. I was rooting for each of the main characters in this! The way that Ms. Leigh writes, I could feel and “see” how each of them were feeling and the happiness, love and sadness they experienced.

Unexpected characters will make an appearance, and oh what trouble they bring to the table!

Does true and lifelong love prevail? I’d like to say yes and no, because with every love triangle someone is hurt and I was sad to see it. I was happy to see that he will get his happily ever after in a future book!

Get your hands on this series! You will cry, you will laugh and you will cheer for all the characters. (Well except for some, those you will want to push of the nearest bridge!)

Wowza! This book takes off right where Capture leaves off…

This is a dark, twisty and I don’t think romance quite covers it….YET!!! You can see glimpses of something more between the two main characters Katherine (Fiore) and Arsen (Monster).

Katherine is trying so hard to hold on to her identity. She is trying to find a way to escape her capture and she is also trying to escape her feelings towards her captor.

Arsen enjoys it when he is called Monster. But is he really? You see glimpses of nobleness in him as the story progresses. He is trying hard to hold on to his darkness, but Katherine is changing him.

And then….holy hell what an ending! What a cliffhanger!! You are going to be hanging on for dear life for the next installment of this series!!

Yes it’s a dark romance, we just a huge dose of the darkness now, but it’s oh so steamy!! So darkly delightful…and a small, tiny dose of romance….the perfect combination!

My Review…

Ms. Halle’s stories get me every time!! I am so enjoying this series about royalty.

The Nordic King is the story of King Aksel of Denmark and Aurora of a far away land in the outbacks of Australia.

I loved the imagery in this story. From the palaces in Copenhagen to the red dusty town of Windorah. Ms. Halle has a special talent of bringing you along in her imagination.

My heart hurt for Aksel, for what was done to him and by that for which he had did. He wanted to be loved. That’s it, he just wanted the love that had been denied him since birth.

Aurora was a girl with a past. A tragic past that she learned to rise above, to become someone new. But as life teaches us, if you don’t confront the past and cleanse your soul it will haunt you.

This love story was a slow, delicious burn. And when Axsel and Aurora finally come together, well it’s a good thing that Kindles aren’t known to spontaneously combust because this surely would have caused it to go up in flames!

I loved the bit of intrigue and mystery. It kept my up most of the night to finish this! The secondary characters are spectacular and bring so much more depth to the story.

I have yet to read a book by this author that I haven’t absolutely loved! This story is a refreshing fairy tale in the modern world! Well done Ms. Halle!!

A Sexton Brothers Novel

Oh my! What a great start to a new series!

Austin is a fantastic collaboration between these two authors! It’s a fast paced (yes I am totally using the racing theme!) swoony read that I could not put down.

It’s the story of Austin Sexton, aka Falcon on the street racing scene and Jalynn, aka Pyle, which kinda threw me because even though she didn’t know what the name meant at first, I did and I found it hard to keep in the story every time Austin called her that. But that is just such a small distraction.

Jalynn is the younger sister, but she is also the responsible one. Not by choice, but by circumstance. I enjoyed how Austin made her understand just how much she was protected growing up. She and Austin share a similar background and that’s what brings them closer together. She is loyal, fierce and independent. She is no shrinking violet!

Austin is everything you could ask for in a swoony alpha hero. He is protective, he is courageous and oh what a silver tongued devil! Oh so swoony and he is able to be true to himself around Jalynn, which is something he didn’t know he needed until he met her.

The secondary characters bring a richness and the bit of mystery needed to keep you guessing. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series! You won’t either! Well done ladies! Well done!
