Blurb:
I’m an all-or-nothing man—100 percent focused on whatever has my attention.

First it was serving my country in the Special Forces. Then it was building my business. Right now it’s the hot blonde at the bar who’s about to become another notch on my bedpost.

But women never keep my attention for more than a night.

Until I peel off Skylar Anderson’s clothes and her mask starts to crumble, showing me glimpses of the girl she’s hiding. She’s funny, sexy and vulnerable and throws me out of bed before I can catch my breath and suggest breakfast.

When I start my last undercover job on a yacht, turns out, she’s one of the crew. I try, but I can’t look away.

Her high ponytail shows off her kissable neck that tastes like summer.

Her short uniform reveals the killer legs that were wrapped around me last night.

And her provocative smile? I know what that mouth is capable of.

I want to explore her body, discover her secrets and sail off into the sunset with her.

I might want to go all in for Skylar, but she should stay away from me. I’ve got secrets of my own and they can only bring her trouble.

Blurb
Addison Walker is every fantasy I never dared to believe in.
Moving to this town was already monumental.
Finding her removes any lingering doubt.
She’s bold and vibrant.
Beautiful and confident.
Far too good for the likes of me.
Luckily, I’m not good at avoiding temptation.
My desire is growing beyond control.
I’m done watching on the sidelines.
When opportunity strikes, I eagerly take advantage.
Signing on the dotted line before thinking twice.
The repercussions cross my mind far too late.
When she swiftly sticks me in the friend-zone, there’s not a damn thing I can do about it.

Addison is just down the hall—might as well be miles away.
Temptation drives me to the edge of sanity.
She speaks to my deepest cravings like a siren.
Our chemistry blurs every line.
This battle seems impossible to win.
Yet my determination doesn’t wane.
It only takes one night to change everything.

After all, I didn’t wait all this time to settle for less.

Excerpt
#1

“Are you sure?” Because she isn’t acting like it.

“Yeah, this will solve the questioning.” That doesn’t sound so great.

I rock back on my heels. “About?”

Splotches of red stain her cheeks. “Ah, well… if this,” she motions between us, “was heading in a romantic direction.”

I feel the blood drain from my face. “What do you mean?”

“If we’re living together, the potential of us dating is zippo. We’ll be roommates and friends, but that’s all. Otherwise it will be awkward and tense and blah. No, thanks. Setting this boundary will cut out the possibility.”

I choke on the brick lodged in my throat. “Wait, what?”

“Can you imagine the mess we’d be stuck in if things went sour? Better to not chance it, right?”

No.

No, no, no.

I blink slowly, trying to process her words. Is this an unwritten rule I wasn’t aware of? And what, now I’m trapped in the friend-zone? I avert my eyes, glaring at a neon sign stuck to the far wall. An outcome that doesn’t involve us as a couple seems impossible. I rapidly search for a counter-argument, begging for a way out of this mess.

What the hell happens now?

#2

Addison licks her lips. “So, uh, what’s your nickname?”

I shrug. “Don’t really have one.”

“Why not?”

“I dunno.”

“Well, we can’t have that.”

I rest an elbow on the table. “No?”

She taps her chin. “How about sugar or cupcake? You’re a big dessert fan.” I wince, and she laughs. “Yeah, those are bad.” Her eyes flick to mine. “What about honey?”

“Because I’m so sweet?”

Addison’s lashes flutter. “Uh, maybe. Um, never mind. Maybe something related to work?”

“Like bolt or wrench?”

She huffs. “Ugh, no.”

I gesture toward Trey. “The guys at Jacked Up call me rookie. Makes sense since I am one in many ways.”

Addison blinks slowly. “And your last name.”

I want to smack my forehead. “That too.”

Her green eyes light up. “Rooks? That’s got a nice ring to it. And it’s the little tower piece in chess. You’re the corner of our castle, holding it up.”

My body gets warm when she whispers that. Whenever she ties us together in any capacity, my ego swells tenfold. I stretch to sit taller, my shoulders and chest expanding.

“I like Rooks.”

“Me too,” she murmurs.

My Review…

Oh my me!! This story is everything that is good and Minnesotan!

From golden birthdays to tater-tot hotdish and ice fishing, this story is positively Minnesota.

This is the third story based in the fictional town of Garden Grove.  This is Addison and Shane’s story.  I was so waiting for this one!

I can honestly say that Shane has got to be one of the best alpha heroes I have ever had the pleasure to read.  His upbringing is so far from typical that it has made him adorably naive about some things.  It’s his perception and feelings for Addison that really made me fall in love with him.  He feels his only purpose in this world is to love and protect Addison and he does an amazing job.  Can I claim him as mine?  Well I am gonna!

Addison can’t quite figure out what Shane’s “game” is.  And when she realizes what he is all about she becomes enamored of him right back.  She wants to be sure that the feelings are real, she wants what her parents have.

From the lovely nicknames to the first time they are together this story has it all! Ms. Rae has really outdone herself with this story!  This can totally be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading all the books in this series!

It’s not you. It’s me.

No, seriously. It is me. Not only does my name literally mean “unfortunate,” but that’s the story of my life.

Everything I touch turns to cr*p. An apartment fire—that I swear I was not responsible for—means I’m living back at home with my s*x-mad parents. Yay, me!

Which is why I need my new job as personal assistant to Cameron Reid to get back on my feet. Three months in this job and I can move back out and, hopefully, remember to turn off my flat iron once in a while.

Ahem.

On paper, my job is easy. Make coffee. Book appointments. Keep everything in order.

Until I walk in on my boss, half-naked, wearing nothing but the kind of tiny white towel that dreams are made of.

Now, nothing is easy—except our mutual attraction. But he’s my boss, and you know what they say about mixing work and pleasure: unless you do p*rn, it’s just not worth it.

Excerpt:

I took my coffee from the counter and scanned the room for an empty table. There wasn’t one, which killed my chances of wasting more time before I went home.

With a sigh, I checked my phone for the time and headed for the door. I was going to end up at home earlier than I’d planned, and I needed to check with my mom to make sure there wasn’t anything kinky happening somewhere in the house.

I’d considered bleaching my eyes enough in the last few weeks, thank you.

I was fairly sure I was safe because my grandfather and great aunt were coming to stay to celebrate Grandpa’s eightieth birthday. It was still a miracle my exhibitionist mother shared DNA with either of them. Unlike her, they were reserved, polite, and didn’t flash their flesh in the hopes of getting out of a speeding ticket.

Really, it was no wonder I was a walking disaster.

I pulled up my messages and clicked on my mom’s name. My thumb was poised to type the burning question of whether or not it was safe to come home when I glanced up.

And saw the car screeching to a stop, mere inches from me.

I screamed and stepped back. My heel caught on the curb, sending me toppling backward, and both my coffee and phone went flying. My cup slammed against the sidewalk, splattering hot liquid everywhere right as I managed to save my phone from certain death by concrete.

My heart was beating so fast it should have exploded, and adrenaline raced through my veins. I gripped my phone against me so tightly that the edges pressed painfully into my skin.

Oh my God.

I’d just almost died.

Maybe slightly dramatic, but I probably wasn’t far wrong. I didn’t even know I’d stepped into the road. When had that happened? Had I really been in that deep into my own little world that I hadn’t even checked for traffic?

Dear God.

How was I still alive?

The back door to the sleek, black car that somehow hadn’t run me over swung open. From my vantage position on the sidewalk, the first thing I saw was a pair of shiny, black shoes attached to legs wearing perfectly-pressed, light gray dress pants.

I dragged my gaze up from the feet, over the door of the perfectly clean car, and stared at the most beautiful man known to humankind.

Thick, dark, wavy hair covered his head, curling over his ears. Lashes the same dark shade of brown framed impossibly bright-blue eyes that regarded me with a mixture of shock and concern, and my ovaries about exploded when he rubbed a large hand over full pink lips and a stubbled, strong jaw.

“Miss—I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”

Scrambling to my feet as he approached me, I tugged down the leg of my pants and grabbed my pursed. “Yes. I mean—it was my fault. I wasn’t paying attention. I’m sorry.”

He let go of the car door, showing broad shoulders and just how well that gray suit was tailored to him, and picked up my coffee cup. “All the same, I think we can share blame. Are you sure you’re not hurt?”

Just my dignity, and by this point, I was running low on it anyway.

I shifted, taking a step back. “I’m fine, really. Thank you.”

“Can I replace your coffee? Give you a ride anyway to apologize?” His expression was so earnest, his concern so genuine that I almost gave in.

Almost.

I had almost walked into the front of his car, then proceeded to embarrass myself in front of everyone on the street.

“No, no, it’s fine. I’m not far from home.” I clutched my phone and purse straps a little harder. “Again, thank you, but I should be going.”

He nodded as if he understood. “Uh, miss? Did you drop something there?”

My eyes followed the direction Mr. Dreamboat was pointing. On the side of the road, tucked against the curb, was a pair of white, cotton panties with flamingos on them.

My white, cotton panties with flamingos on them.

Swallowing, I met his bright eyes and shook my head. Dear God, please don’t let me blush. “No. I’ve never seen them before.” I backed up a little more. “Thank you for not running me over.”

Mr. Dreamboat grinned, his eyes brightening with his smile. “I’d never be able to forgive myself if I’d been responsible for running over someone as beautiful as you.” He glanced toward my panties, then winked at me.

There was no doubting that I was blushing this time around.

You could fry eggs on my cheeks.

So I did the only thing any self-respecting, twenty-five-year-old woman who’d just almost been run over, tripped, and dropped her dirty panties could do.

I ran.

But only like two blocks, because I was in heels, and I had the fitness levels of a hippo.

Then I grabbed a cab.

What’s a girl to do after being ditched at the altar by text message? That’s right. Text. Message.

How does she pick up the pieces and move on? I’m no Dear Abby but here’s a little free advice…

Advice #1 – First, purge your apartment of all things him—by tossing his belongings off the balcony.

Advice #2 – Do not, I repeat do not, throw anything out into the hallway because you’ll injure your hot new neighbor.

Advice #3 – When said neighbor brings over Chinese Food do not let him stay and keep you company. It’s awkward when you realize he’s your boss.

Advice #4 – Accept his offer to help you with your side business but think twice before using a date to his sister’s wedding as collateral.

Advice #5 – Investigate who your mystery neighbor really is. Don’t trust his word even if he’s the world’s best kisser.

If you listen to nothing else, pay attention to that last one. It’s the most important and will save you a lot of heartache.

Xo,

My Review…

I am declaring L.B. Dunbar the “Queen of Over 40 Romance”!! I just have to get a tiara and sash worthy of her!

Second Chance is a story in the Sexy Silver Foxes series.

See me…” This quote was my undoing, this broke my heart and made me weep.  It’s beautiful in it’s simplicity, and seemed like an unattainable goal….

This story of Mati and Denton is absolutely breathtaking.  A slow burn that will make you want to jump in the flames and embrace it.

Their story spans decades.  Their story is one that is going to follow me for a long, long time.

You can feel the unresolved issues between Mati and Denton.  You feel the chemistry that has remained between them for years.  The reunion of Mati and Denton is just swoon…I can’t describe the magic of Ms. Dunbar’s words in this story

You get to see past characters from her other Sexy Silver Foxes books, it was fantastic to “catch up” with them.  Ms. Dunbar also introduced us to a new cast of characters that will hopefully get their own stories in the future! (Fingers crossed!!)

When reading this story, your heart is gonna break, but don’t worry, Ms. Dunbar is going to take your broken pieces and put them back together in a new and lovely way.  Love is never lost, sometimes it just takes a bit of a road trip…

He said it would only hurt a little …

On her sixteenth birthday, Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. On my twenty-second, I pricked mine on the needle of a tattoo machine wielded by a beautifully complicated man who would go on to become my ruin.

Madden Ransom was everything I was never allowed to be: unfeeling, opinionated, rebellious … free.

He was also everything I was never allowed to be with.

And while Sleeping Beauty fell into a peaceful slumber as she awaited true love’s kiss, I fell into something else entirely—my heart in the hands of a man who’d never given nor received anything remotely like love.

It turns out when Madden told me it would only hurt a little … he didn’t mean the tattoo.

Excerpt:

The hall bathroom door opened, consequently stopping the earth’s orbit and flinging me into space for lack of gravity.

Thomas Bane stepped out of the doorway in slow motion, propelled by a cloud of steam that licked at his glistening body like it wanted to taste him. His hair was black, wet, curling and dripping in rivulets down the planes and valleys of his expansive chest and abs and narrow hips. He had that thing, the trough of muscle bracketing his hips that caught sluicing water and carried it in an angle that would eventually reach that unknown terrain beneath his towel. I saw the ghost of that terrain, the long, cylindrical bulge that was substantial enough to clearly state its presence, even through the thick towel.

He smirked, dragging his hand through his wet hair. I salivated, watching droplets of water roll down his forearm and collect on the tip of his erotic elbow.

“You’re up,” he said.

I blinked, not knowing when I’d set my coffee down or how many minutes—hours? years?—had passed in the time I spent ogling his body.

He sauntered into the room like he wasn’t basically naked. I tried unsuccessfully not to stare at his knees, the place where his ropy thigh connected, the angular muscles of his calves, the curve of his ankle, the broad pad of his foot.

He was perfectly proportioned. Michelangelo would have carved him twenty feet tall, and women would have worshipped at his perfect feet.

Gus bounced when he saw Tommy, his toys forgotten. And when Gus took off running, Tommy stopped, eyes widening and hands splayed in front of him.

“Gus, no,” he commanded.

To no one’s surprise, Gus did not listen. He barked once, snagged the hem of Tommy’s towel, and whipped it off him in a single tug that exposed every inch of skin on Thomas Bane’s ridiculous body.

Thank God my coffee was already on the counter. I’d have gotten third-degree burns.

For a split second, Tommy was frozen there in all his natural glory, poised to run after his dog, his face drawn and eyes locked on the sweet, disobedient dog. He wasn’t paying any attention to me.

I, however, gave him my full and undivided consideration.

His thighs were a mass of muscle so hard and defined, the tops were planes that came to a notch at his knee and a point where it met his hip. My eyes caught that trough that had before disappeared and followed it where it pointed—straight to the thatch of dark hair and the member nestled there.

The very thick, very long, mostly limp member.

If I stared at it a second longer, I was going to faint—my vision was already dim, my pulse pumping so hard, I could feel it in my neck, at the back of which a cold sweat had broken.

But he shifted to run after Gus, who was galloping away, trailing the towel behind him.

“Dammit, Gus! Gimme that!”

Then it was the back of him I saw, his hair, the streaming water rolling down all the curves of his shoulders, his back, the valley of his spine, and down to the most perfect ass I’d ever seen in real life.

Well, the only ass I’d ever seen in real life that wasn’t my own, and even that I couldn’t get a good look at without a mirror.

Seriously, that ass. That perfectly sculpted ass, round and tight and curved in the sides, shifting from one side to the other as he ran after the damn dog. My gaze caught a tattoo on one ass cheek, and I squinted at it, trying to make it out.

Tommy bent to snag the end of the towel—I caught sight of his sack and almost dissolved through the floor in an acidic puddle of embarrassment—but when he pulled, Gus spun around, ass in the air and tail wagging as he growled, pulling back.

A string of obscenities left Tommy’s mouth, but I was still gaping and staring at his ass. I realized that I was laughing. It sounded like someone else in a different room.

I wondered absently if this was how it felt to have a stroke.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Yes, really. She’s that sarcastic.

My Review…

“Settle your tea kettle…” Love this line and I just love Emma Hart’s stories!!

Catastrophe Queen is a funny, fast-paced, sweet read that I couldn’t put down until the very end!

This story is about Mallory and Cameron. They meet in the most unlikely way.

I enjoyed Mallory, I love that she knew her limits and embraced her inner drama queen.  She was open and honest and pulled no punches when it came to Cameron.

Cameron is Mallory’s boss.  I enjoyed how he rolled with the punches when it came to Mallory and her family.

The dialogue in this story is fast paces, quick witted and made me laugh out loud! When this story ended, I wished for more from them.

The secondary characters are fantastic and bring so much more to the story.

You can’t go wrong with a Emma Hart story!  We all have a bit of a catastrophe queen in us and it will make you fall in love with this story even more!

Title: Build: A Bad Boy Snowed In Romance

Series: Burns Brothers #1

Author: Gillian Archer
Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 29, 2019
Blurb
Welcome to Bad@ss Builds where the motorcycles are as sexy as the brothers building them.
Austin Burns:
I thought she wasn’t real the first time I saw her. To be fair I was a hungover mess when I woke up and looked into her gorgeous eyes. After getting the second worst news of my life—that my father would be paroled soon—I’d escaped to my buddy’s posh cabin near Lake Tahoe. Now the maid with the gorgeous eyes is snowed in with
me, and I wonder if she might be a better distraction than the mountain of booze I’d planned on drinking. She’s curvy in all the right places, and the snow is falling faster.
Rachel Tannenbaum:
As a single mom, I don’t have time for men, especially irresponsible tattooed bad boys like my ex. But Austin is hot. And sexy. And stuck here in the cabin with me. I can’t say no to a fling with this bad boy, especially since Austin is so gorgeous and
awkwardly sweet.

One night becomes two, and I don’t know if I can risk my heart—and my little boy’s—if Austin wants it to become more when we get through the snow and back to reality.

I’d just straightened up the pile of mats when a scraping sound caught my attention. Raising the blinds, I looked out the window and saw Rachel standing in the middle of the road, shovel in hand, pushing the snow into big piles. She’d got about ten feet
of road cleared in addition to her car.
Did she really think she could plow the fucking road between here and the highway? It was miles of road!
“Son of a bitch.” I ran out of the room. Three steps later, I almost tripped over Blue in
the hallway. He’d taken up a post between me and the doorway, almost like he couldn’t decide who he should be guarding. “Hey, boy. You okay?”
Blue sat up with a whine and swung his head toward the front door.
“Yeah, I think we gotta talk some sense in her. She can’t plow the fucking road all by
herself. Come on.” I grabbed my coat next to the door and pulled it on over my naked chest. My shirt was balled up somewhere in Cole’s home gym. I shoved my bare feet into my boots next to the door and half-assedly laced them up. Blue whined next to me, urging me to hurry. I ripped open the door, and Blue bounded out, with me close on his heels.
“What the hell are you doing, woman!” I shouted before I met up with Rachel.
She glanced at me then bent down to pet Blue. “What does it look like?”
“It looks like you’re fucking insane. You do know there’s like five miles of road between us and the highway, right? Are you planning on plowing the whole fucking thing by hand?”
“I have to do something!” Rachel waved an agitated hand as she stood back up to face me. “I can’t just sit here and wait for someone to call or show up. I have people
waiting on me—my family is counting on me.”
“You think I don’t know that? You think the same fucking thing isn’t happening to me right now? I was supposed to be at work today too. Our scariest fucking client is
expecting a bike delivery today, and I’m not gonna be there to stand between him and my brother. That’s my job!
That’s what I’ve done my whole life, and today I’m not gonna be there. I won’t be there to protect him.”
Rachel stared back at me with wide eyes, and her mouth opened and closed like a fish. I sighed as some of my anger melted away at Rachel’s bewilderment. I hadn’t meant to reveal so much. My shit was my shit. No one else needed to know what was really going on in my life—least of all a piece of ass I’d hooked up with for a night. I just had so much anger pent up. Booze hadn’t helped. Exercise hadn’t helped. Really the only thing that’d worked was when I had her naked and under me, but that’d never happen again. I needed to get my shit under control.
“Look, I’m sorry, okay?” I reached over and gently took the snow shovel out of her hands. “We all have shit—that’s all I’m saying. Well, that, and there’s no way either of us is going to be able to dig our way out of this mess. There’s too much road between us and the highway. It’s dangerous. We’re better off waiting until the plow comes. I don’t know where the hell Cole’s business manager is, but he still hasn’t called me back. If you’d like, I can call around and see if I can find another service.”
Rachel bit her lip and looked down the long, snow-covered road, her brow wrinkled.
“I’ll even pay.” Rachel’s eyes shot to mine. “It’s not the money that’s bothering me. Well, it is, ‘cause I can’t afford it, but I’m worried about the weather. There’s supposed to be another system moving in this afternoon. If we can’t get out of here by noon, I doubt you’ll find another outfit willing to come out in the middle of another
storm. We could be trapped here overnight again.”
I nodded slowly. “I’ll get on the horn and see if we can get you home to your little boy
sooner than later.”
“Thank you.”

My Review…

Burns Brothers Series

A new motorcycle series?  Yes please!

Build is the first in the new series by Gillian Archer.  The series focuses on the brother Burns and their custom motorcycle shop.

Austin is the oldest Burns brother and this is his book.  He has the heavy mantle of responsibility for his brothers and his shop on his shoulders.  His backstory is horrifying and it’s a miracle he isn’t more scared (both physically and mentally) than he already is.  When he gets some earth shaking news, he breaks and runs to the cabin of a friend in Tahoe to process the news in a not so healthy way.

Rachel is a single mom, struggling with everyday and keeping her little family together.  For someone so young, she is forced to be mature beyond her years.  She to is burdened by a heavy mantle of responsibility her past has made her bent and a bit broken as well. When weather forces her to stay with Austin in the cabin, that’s when the sparks fly.

Austin and Rachel’s chemistry is on fire! Rachel has never experienced the overwhelming feelings she has for Austin and it scares her.  Austin, who has never had the word commitment in his vocabulary, struggles to be better for Rachel. Rachel struggles to trust herself and to trust Austin and it’s moving to read and feel.

There is angst, there is swooniness and there is redemption and forgiveness in this story.  The perfect combination!

You get a fantastic introduction to all of the brothers in this first book and I can’t wait to read their stories soon!

CADE
I heard her as soon as I entered the building.
“It’s a classic, sonny boy, and you don’t fuck with the classics.  Do you hear me? Or has that combover blocked your ears?”
I couldn’t help but grin. The voice belonged to Sybil Calley, my formidable, charismatic grandmother. Seventy-something-years old, she was a force to be reckoned with and very rarely backed down in an argument. Any poor soul who took her on was in for a fierce fight, and by the sounds of it, Tito was about to feel the full
force of hurricane Sybil.
“It’s blasphemy! That’s what it is. Blasphemy! Why, I bet Deborah Kerr is rolling in her grave, God rest her beautiful soul. How dare you stain such a beautiful story with your weirdness, you rude little boy!”
As I rounded the corner, Sybil and Tito came into view. Tito was standing with his back to the wall with his arms in the air, while my formidable grandmother yelled at him. He looked terrified.
“Grandma Calley,” I interrupted, trying to contain my grin. Seeing me walk in, Tito
looked relieved and relaxed his arms.
Sybil wasted no time in getting straight to the point. She held up a DVD so I could
see the cover. “Did you know about this?”
I took it from her and couldn’t help but grin at the cover. Pure spank bank bullshit that sells. But definitely not what you wanted your grandmother looking at in front of you.
“How on Earth did you even know about it?” I asked.
“I might be edging close to buying the farm, Cade, but I’m not quite dead yet. You know I like to keep my finger on the pulse. It’s Tuesday, and I know you drop into this pit of despair on Tuesdays, so I came down to speak with you.” She gave Tito a withering look. “Ran into this little twerp and found this . . .”
She ripped the DVD out of my hands and held it up. The cover was a rip-off of An Affair To Remember, except it was titled, An Anus to Remember. Gay porn. It was a bestseller.
“It’s a disgrace, Cade. An absolute disgrace.” She pushed the DVD into Tito’s chest.
“You should be ashamed of yourself.”
“Ain’t nothing wrong with a bit of man-on-man love, Grandma,” I said, trying to diffuse the situation. Sybil could be unpredictable at times.
“I know that! Man on man. Woman on woman. I don’t give a goddamn! What I do care about is taking a classic and turning it into smut. Now that is not right, Cade. Not
right. You don’t fuck with the classics.”
“Cade, this can’t keep happening,” Tito moaned.
Sybil turned back to Tito. “I’m seventy-three years old but I ain’t dead yet, sonny. I’m the original biker queen and I’m still packing as much attitude as I did back when my old man started the Kings of Mayhem more than fifty years ago. If you ever mess with one of the classics again and put your perverted stamp all over it, I will knock you on your ass, do you hear me?”
Again, I struggled to contain my grin.
Tito, however, looked unraveled. And he had every cause to be because I had no doubt Sybil meant what she said. She was a classy lady who never left the house without taming her bright red hair and putting on a thick coat of red lipstick.
But she was a biker queen first. Tough. Fierce. With a mean right hook.
You didn’t fuck with Sybil Calley.
Taking pity on Tito, I slunk an arm around Grandma’s shoulders and guided her toward the front door.
“Now, Grandma, you can’t come in here and get up in Tito’s grill about things. Head
Quarters is off limits to MC women, remember?”
That rule had come about after Sybil had swept through Head Quarters like a hurricane and upset an entire cast of actresses on the set of a movie we were making called Some Like It Hard. Sybil was a die-hard Marilyn fan and managed to put the fear in all the actresses who were on set, leading to a mass walk-out and halting production for three days.
Not that Sybil paid any attention to rules. She was the original rule breaker. She did what she wanted, when she wanted. And if it suited her, she’d blame her forgetfulness on her age to get away with it, despite being sharp as a tack.
She waved off the mention of the rules.
“If that little pervert can’t handle a seventy-year-old woman, then he needs to take a cup of cement and harden the fuck up.” She glanced over her shoulder and narrowed her eyes at Tito as we were walking away, and muttered, “little pussy.” I tried not to laugh because that would only encourage her, so I asked, “Grandma, why are you here?”
She relaxed and smiled. “Now, Cade, you know you’re my favorite grandson—”
“You say that to all your grandsons . . .” “. . . and I love you. So I wanted to see how you were feeling about Indy coming home.”
“This isn’t her home anymore, Grandma. She lives in Seattle now.”
“Thank you, Captain Obvious. But you know what I mean.” Her face softened as she took my hand. “I know the affect that girl has on you. I just wanted to make sure…”
“What?”
She smacked me hard on the arm. “That you’re not going to be an ass about it.”
I couldn’t help but grin. Good on Grandma Sybil.
“A lot of water has passed under the bridge, Grandma. I’m not an eighteen-year-old
psychopath anymore.”
Sybil didn’t look convinced. “You’re a Calley and we’re passionate sonsofbitches. When we love, we love big, and if that love dies, then we die a big  death along side it. I should know. When your Pappy died, my heart went with him.”
I couldn’t help but smile at my feisty grandmother.
“I’m sure Jury wouldn’t like to hear you say that,” I said.
Jury was my grandma’s sixty-year-old boyfriend.
“Jury isn’t the love of my life. Your grandpappy was. Jury knows I’m just after his  body.”
I raised an eyebrow at her. “Grandma, there are certain things a grandson should never hear his grandmother say, and that’s right up there with them.”
She waved me off. “The body may be old and the reflection in the mirror might be slightly different, but the mind is still twenty years old. I might not be able to do it the way I used to but—”
I stuck my fingers in my ears. “Lalalalalalalalala . . .”
She rolled her eyes. “Fine. I’ll let you think that I don’t do the things I still did when I was twenty.”
“Seriously, Grandma . . .” I begged, pained by the mental images.
Sighing dramatically, she changed the subject. “Your mom is making dinner for Lady and Indy. Somehow I was extended an invitation. I assume you’ll be there.”
To say Sybil and my mom didn’t exactly get along would be an understatement. The civil unrest had ended years ago, but in its wake was a frosty cold war of mammoth
proportions. Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law didn’t exactly see eye to eye.
I nodded.
“I’m heading over there now.”
“Fine. I’ll follow you. Lord knows I’ve had my fair share of pussy and cock today.”
I opened the front door for her and shook my head. “Jesus Christ, Sybil. My ears are
bleeding.”

My Review…

Another new to me author, another fantastic story!!

Kings of Mayhem is the first book in the Kings of Mayhem series.

This story is gonna grab you hard and not let go until it’s ready. This story is full of angst and redemption! It’s going to make you feel ALL THE FEELS!

This is the story of Cade and Indy, but it’s also about so much more.  It’s about family, those you are born into and those who you choose.  I loved the brotherhood and the loyalty.

There are twists in this story that you won’t see coming. Just when you think you know, or you have the story figured out.  Ms. Dee skews it to make you see it in a new light.

Cade and Indy have a love that spans time and distance. They have a lifelong friendship that lays the groundwork for a deep and abiding love.  Even when outside forces try to dismantle it.  Their love was bent and bruised, but through it all, like hope, it was there!

The secondary characters bring a depth to the story that really makes the world they live in feel real, raw and lovely.

I cannot wait to read the next book in this series, coming in February.  What a great way to start the new year!

Thank you for your words, for creating a imperfectly perfect world.
