Sshh…can you keep a secret?
If you’re hiding in the dark,
How long ‘til you leak it?
If you really must tell all
How far can we sweep it?
If you lay down the gauntlet
Can you make us leap it?
You know who we are
You know what we did
Will you keep it to yourself
Or will you lift the lid?
Sshh…can you keep a secret?HONEY
Psst…want to know a secret?
It’s big, it’s bad, it’s ugly
And I don’t think I can keep it
If I tell and you find out
Your wrath, you will heap it
The tide will turn, you will learn
And now you shall reap it
I know who you are
I know what you did
Will I keep it to myself
Or will I lift the lid
Psst…want to know a secret?
The sex was different this time. It was slower and more intentional. It was more than just a physical release driven by a biological urge. It was more than an act of defiance between sexually compatible adversaries. It was more than a battle of wills, or a struggle for dominance. It was so much more than a race toward a certain end. I had no trouble determining what it wasn’t. What I struggled with was what it was. We’d turned a corner, that was for sure. Where we were headed after that, I had no idea.
“We’re making out. Who said anything about sex? We’re not going t—”
“Stop lying to yourself. This is on as it’s ever been between two people. More, even. And that’s cool. We fuck. We get all the shit out of our systems. Then we never talk about it, or anything else, for that matter, again. You’ll stay out of my way. I’ll stay out of yours. It will be like it never happened.”
“You’re insane.” So was I for even kissing this guy. “I’m not having sex with you, anywhere, but especially not here.” I spread my arms, indicating to the clearing we’d stopped at to catch our breath at the end of the uphill hike.
“You keep telling yourself that. Meanwhile, in the real world, this was always going to happen. It was a case if when, not if.” He actually was crazy. “Besides, what’s insane about two people who have chemistry, fucking because they want to, and because they can? I’ll let you into a little secret, too…This is what bears do in the woods.” He grinned hard, overly pleased with his little joke, which it pained me to admit, was pretty damned funny.
MV ELLIS knows what it’s like to fall head over heels in love with a badass musician. She followed her heart halfway around the world to be with one. She moved from London to Sydney after a steamy holiday romance with a sexy bass player in sultry Brazil.
Twelve years, two children and a dog later, and she’s still smitten. All this with a guy she sat next to on a bus for 36 hours! She has toured internationally as a ‘WAG’, and her experiences inspire her writing.
Ellis’ love of romance began when she was 11 years old, after a summer spent secretly reading her auntie’s books. She’s been a sucker for an alpha hero and strong heroine ever since.
An avid reader, Ellis always knew that she’d write a book of her own one day. She was right about that. Following a career spanning advertising, marketing, and social media, she finally wrote Catching London in 2017.
She has continued to expand the Heartless Few series beyond Catching London, with releases planned through to 2020. In addition, she has launched a new four-part series, Rough Ink series, set in the sexy world of a New York tattoo studio. Expect the same sexy badass guys, angst galore, witty banter, scorching bedroom scenes, and kickass sassy women; but with a whole new world, and cast of characters to get to know and love. Zed, the first book in the series launched in June 2019.
Boys of Trinity Hall
Ms. Ellis has a way of making you hate a character with relentless fervor, and then she flips the script and makes you fall in love with them.
This is the story of Bear and Honey (love the names!), and their total hate/love relationship.
Honey is fierce in her stubbornness and wants nothing more than to expose the dirty side of the boys of Trinity Hall. When she meets Bear for the first time, she doesn’t know whether to kill him or kiss him.
Bear has been tasked with the job of keeping Honey, her words and actions contained by any means necessary. He too doesn’t understand why he feels the way he does for Honey the first time they meet.
This can be read as a standalone, but I have read the past books in this series and it’s enjoying seeing past characters filling their roles so well. The deviousness of this story. The bully and the bullied walk a fine line between love and hate and it’s fun to read how they navigate that.
