Forgetting the coffee, forgetting my houseguest, and forgetting I was shirtless, I stalked over to the door, heart pounding, and yanked open the latch handle with the mugs in one hand expecting anything. Or everything.

Everything but emerald.

“Taylor?”

I gaped and stared at the angel from my past, her jewel-cut eyes crystallizing around my gaze.

Taylor.

Here.

I would’ve been less surprised to see the Pope, dressed as Santa, here to wish me Happy Hanukkah than to find Taylor Hastings at my door.

Like everyone else from my past life, I hadn’t seen her in five months. But unlike everyone else, Taylor was the only one with the perspicacity to see my demons and know they’d driven me here.

My heart continued to race for a whole slew of reasons I couldn’t give name to, and my body felt like it was waking up for the first time in months. All because of her.

I couldn’t believe she was here… and it looked like neither could she.

“Ash… Hi…” Her brilliant smile flashed for a split-second.

She stammered like she’d expected someone else to answer the door to a rundown shack on the other side of the country.

She licked her lips and I felt a shock of desire straight to my groin. The alcohol might have elevated – and exacerbated – most of my other emotions, but the desire drunk-Ash had felt for Taylor was nothing compared to the Earth-shaking need sober-Ash suffered right now.

Months, miles, and sobriety hadn’t dulled the way I wanted her.

But I’d wanted her for decades… I doubted even death could stop it now.

I shook my head. “Sorry. I just can’t believe you’re on my doorstep. What… What are you doing here? Is everything okay? Is my sister okay?”

She nodded frantically. “Yes, I’m sorry. Blake is fine. Everyone is fine. Well, everyone but me.” At that moment, her eyes ducked down and, for better or for worse, my gaze roamed down the length of the small frame that managed to create a Goliath-sized amount of lust in me.

As always, the gentle slope of her neck was cut off by a collared shirt, layered over with a royal-purple sweater. NorCal was chilly this time of year, so I couldn’t hold that against her, but it only hinted at the slopes of her tits, and that I would always protest. But there, instead of the fabric falling back in over her stomach, it pushed out.

Jesus Christ.

Was I… Was I seeing this right?

My mouth went dry and my heart ran like the fucking cops were chasing it.

Was Taylor pregnant?

My gaze whipped to hers. “Taylor…”

Where the hell did I even begin?

‘Are you pregnant?’

No, definitely not. I knew better than to ask that to any woman. Fuck.

There were a million questions, so many things I needed to know, and every second that went by felt like my body and my brain were stretched farther on the rack – tortured with wondering.

“Can we talk?” My eyes jerked back up to her face hearing her soft, strained voice. “Can… Can I come in?”

Yes. Talk. Explain.

What. The. Fuck. Was. Happening.

I was unable to process that the most innocent and chaste girl I’d ever met – the girl who’d never had a boyfriend to my knowledge – was standing at my door with a bump in her sweater that was never there before. And I would know because I was always fucking looking at her.

“Shit. Sorry.” I nodded, biting my cheek. “Of course, you can. I wasn’t expecting… you,” I finished dumbly. “You surprised me.”

I wasn’t an idiot. At least, for the past four-ish months I hadn’t been an idiot. But five seconds in her presence turned me into a goddamn fool – forgetting every fucking thing around me.

“Ash,” Danny’s voice coming up behind me was like a bucket of ice water over my head. “Who is it…” She trailed off in surprise like any normal woman would, walking up behind the guy she was casually seeing to find him standing at his door, talking to a woman who was obviously knocked up.

I knew what Danny was thinking but she was wrong.

Alcohol may have damaged many of my brain cells but I still knew the difference between fantasies and fucking – and fantasies, no matter how realistic or how frequently I’d had them about Taylor, couldn’t get her pregnant.

So, there was no way in hell that I was the father.

“Well it ends here, tonight,” I say.

“Just like that?” he asks. “And just because you say it does?”

“Pretty much.” I stand, stretching my legs. A small shiver works its way through me and from here, the house looks warm and glowing and a million times more inviting than it did before.

Talon rises, towering over me with his eyes locked on mine. “Why do you hate me, Irie?”

“Just because you’re not my type and I don’t want to date you doesn’t mean that I hate you, Talon. I don’t even know you—how can I hate someone I don’t know?”

“How do you know I’m not your type if you won’t take the time to get to know me?” he asks.

Fair enough. “Maybe I don’t know you, but I know enough about you to know you’re not my type.”

“Fuck types.”

“Says the guy who’s fucked half the school.” I fold my arms and glance down. That was a little harsh even if it’s true.

“That’s what you think?” he asks.

I challenge myself to meet his accusatory stare, to own my stance. “I told you earlier … you have a reputation. I’ve heard girls talk about hooking up with you. I’ve heard about the way you treat anyone who so much as thinks they might have a chance with you. Forgive me if I’m trying to steer clear of your warpath.”

“Irie, you are the reason for that warpath,” he says, his tone callous and his jaw flexing.

“So I’m supposed to be flattered? You treat other girls like crap because they’re not me? Is that what you’re trying to say?”

“You’re oversimplifying.”

“Am I though?” I angle my head to the side, my mouth twisted as I fight a smirk. Maybe I’m flirting. Maybe I’m also making a point.

Talon is looking at me like he’s two seconds from devouring me—my mouth specifically. His tongue wets his full lips and his left hand tightens at his sides, like he has to refrain from allowing himself to touch me.

There’s a lot of clout standing before me.

An insane amount of restraint.

He’s mere inches from the only thing he wants—the only conquest he can’t have—and it’s physically torturing him.

To wield this kind of control over someone so powerful is a sensation unlike any I’ve experienced before … and in an unexpected turn of events, my nipples harden, my sex tingles, and my lips swell with a curious ache.

In my defense, I’m not normally aroused by torturing people.

In his defense, he’s not normally used to reoccurring rejection.

This is quite the standoff we have going.

My Review…

Another fantastic story from Winter Renshaw.

Grit, determination, and perseverance is the name of this game!

This story of Irie and Talon is all that and more.

Irie is finishing up her college degree, she is far away from where she grew up and the demons that she left behind there.  She has completely changed herself and she is focused on her goals.  In classic Ms. Renshaw fashion, she leaves Irie’s true history a mystery until it needs to be revealed.  And it kept me guessing until the end.  I love that about Ms. Renshaw’s stories.

Talon is like a smoke and mirror show.  Nobody knows what he is truly about, but he plays up his baller image because it’s easier that way.  He has held a torch for Irie since he first saw her years ago and he knows he is running out of time to show Irie who he really is and he will stop at nothing to do so.

Even with everything and everyone against them, Irie and Talon discover each other in the truest sense.  They actually “see” each other and it’s was lovey to read the push and pull of their relationship throughout the pages of this story.

I have yet to read a Winter Renshaw story that I haven’t absolutely loved.  The Hate Game is no exception!

My Review…

The thrilling conclusion to the Dirty Rich Secrets series by Lisa Renee Jones.

What a fastpaced ending to this suspenseful trilogy.

I couldn’t put this down until the very end.  I admired Ashley’s strength, I also felt her vulnerability.  She truly loves Aaron and would do anything to prove it.

Aaron, his secrets come to light, his love for Ashley never waivers.  He wants to control everything in his world and he knows he can’t control Ashley or how she feels for him.

I loved Savage, his character is amazing and I am so looking forward to his own story in the future!

If you are looking for a thrilling, suspenseful and smoking hot trilogy, get your hands on this!

My Review…

I have loved all of Ms. Cranford’s stories.

This novella, which was first published on Book + Main as a serial was no exception.  To find out she has expanded it a bit and put it all together is fantastic and I didn’t want it to end!

This is the chance meeting between Bianca and Lucas.  Now if you have read any of Ms. Cranford’s stories, Bianca is a secondary character to her Avenue series and Lucas has a small mention in She Found Him, but don’t let that scare you off!

Get your hands on this quick-paced, hotter than Hades story! This is an airplane ride of epicness!  Why weren’t my intercontinental flights like this?!? From the first meet-cute to the cozy ending, this story is gonna leave you craving more, more, more!

I am absolutely stoked for the next book The Arrival of You!! So well written, a fun and exciting blending of Australian and American characters!

My Review…

Oh how I love Regan and Noah’s story!

Regan is a total spitfire! I absolutely love her no filter, her awkwardness and her fierceness.

Noah is just what Regan ordered!

The text conversations between the characters and hilarious!

Ms. Hart crates characters and a world that I want to be in! I would love to have Regan, Halley and Ava as my girl crew!  I would love to live in the lovely little town of Creek Falls.

The flow of this story is fast, yet perfect.  You get humor, heat and some swoons too!

The way that Noah and Regan “meet” and start their friendship was phenomenal, hilarious and so on point with today’s world!

And as always, Poosh, the chihuahua stole every scene she was in! (Read and you will see!)

I am so digging this series by Ms. Hart and I am looking forward to Ava’s story!

My Review…

Hot Jocks Book 2

I am so loving this new series by Ms. Ryan!

All The Way is Owen and Becca’s story.  Now while each book in this series can be read as a total stand alone, I was fortunate to read Playing for Keeps and you get to see a small glimpse of Owen and Becca.  These two characters intrigued me.

This is a true story of patience, friendship and above all else the healing power of love.  But not to make it sound too heavy you get the laughs and the swoons you expect from Ms. Ryan.

Becca is trying to still trying to find herself after a horrible incident in her past and with the help of one of her best friends, Owen, they do just that.

Owen, oh my me, this hero is just everything! He is the epitome of patience and giving and just all the goodness!  And THEN you add the alpha to him and it just cranks his hotness up to an eleven!

I love this cast of characters, I love the world that Ms. Ryan creates with this series and I cannot wait to read more!!

I looked up to see my assailant staring down at me in shock, her fists poised and ready to go another round. What the hell?

“If you know what’s good for you, you’ll stay where you are. I’m calling the police.” If I hadn’t already been on my knees, her sexy-as-fuck accent and hot little body would have brought me there.

Stumbling to my feet and bracing myself for her to unleash more unearned violence, I put my hand up. “Look, you psycho, I don’t know who you are, but you need to relax. I’m staying here.” She flipped the light switch next to the door. My pupils contracted at the bright intrusion.

My nemesis was a gorgeous little thing. Her raven locks draped over her shoulders as she drilled into me with mesmerizing dark-brown eyes. It took a second or two for me to place the face with a name.

“I’m Colton Teller.” She tilted her head like a cute puppy trying to understand its master. Eyes that were narrowed slits widened into saucers. “And my guess is you’re Gianna Benedetto. I’d say it’s a pleasure, but . . .” At the sight of me pressing my palm to the spot she’d clocked, a tiny bit of remorse flitted through her expression.

The beauty in front of me had been my research project on the plane ride to New York. Young and sassy would be the perfect way to describe her. She used social media to gain followers and sponsorships for products. Although not much older than her, I was old school and took the standard advertising approach, which had little or nothing to do with social media. In fact, I despised it, where Gianna apparently lived for it.

Rather than flip out, she cracked open the bottle of water in her left hand and took a healthy swig, ignoring the fact that my left cheek felt like it had grown to twice its normal size. The crazy ninja who’d attacked me disappeared, and in her place was a calm, beautiful brunette who wanted nothing to do with me. Couldn’t say that I blamed her. We were vying for the same client, and if she knew anything about me, she didn’t stand a chance.

After a weighted pause she straightened her spine. “I know who you are, and you’re most certainly not staying here.”

Beautiful and headstrong . . . two of my favorite qualities in a woman.

“Listen, Gianna. May I call you that?” I asked, earning me a silent nod. “It appears that Elite Motors put us both up in the same place, making us roommates. You’re welcome to change locations. Unless, of course, you’d like to bail out of the pitch session altogether, because it’s most likely a waste of your time anyway.”

Gianna gave me a smile that almost knocked me back onto the hardwood floor. “Look, Mr.Teller,” she said, emphasizing my last name enough to earn her a crooked smirk. “The only person who will be wasting their time is you. You and I will not be staying in the same home. I suggest you call yourself a cab and go to a hotel.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle. “Where I’m going is upstairs. Now . . .” I grabbed the handle of my suitcase. “If you’ll excuse me, I’ve had a long day, and I’d like to go to my room. Either you can tell me which one is yours or I’ll take my best guess.”

Her sexy-as-fuck mouth dropped open, and before I could tell her what she could do with those perfectly plump lips, she said, “The first room on the right is mine.”

“See, that wasn’t too difficult. I’ll see you in the morning.” That glare she favored appeared again. “Sweet dreams, Gianna.”

As I took the steps up to my room, the sassy Italian beauty mumbled something in her native tongue, bringing a smile to my face. Something told me having Gianna Benedetto not only as an adversary but also as a roommate would prove to be very interesting.
