Bro Code

I am so loving this Wingmen Inc spin-off series!

This is the second book and it’s Leo’s!!!  This is a fantastic spin on the younger man, older woman trope that I am loving hard!

Kora and Leo have a long history.  She was Leo’s teacher in his senior year of high school ad he fell hard for her.  But Kora was married and she was a professional that kept him at arms length.

Fast forward to present day, Kora is now an adjunct professor and Leo is a senior in the college Kora finds herself at.  Sparks start flying!! Kora is trying to piece herself together from a horrible marriage and decides to hire the services of Wingmen, Inc.

The quick-witted dialogue is fast, on fire and oh so funny!  I was laughing out loud one minute and swooning the next! In fact when Leo says “..the heart doesn’t measure its beats based on age…the heart doesn’t discriminate…” I needed a fan and a glass of wine after that!

The secondary characters are fabulous and bring so much more to the story!  I cannot wait for Finn and Slater’s stories in the future!

I so love the world that Ms. Van Dyken has created with this series!  Well done!

Quick wit, a spunky heroine and a swoony hero are what you get with new story from Lauren Blakely

Asking for a Friend is the story of Amy and Linc.  I so enjoy the world that Ms. Blakely has created and seeing past characters make an appearance.

Amy is a fantastic heroine! She is a love of words, an absolute wordsmith with a heart of gold and a determination to make things happen in her world and to help her friends.

Linc is the new man in town and the office. He has been burned in the past and when he meets Amy he doesn’t want to listen to his heart right away.

A chance meeting at work and a serendipitous encounter over the interwebs makes the sparks fly between Linc and Amy.

I loved the wordplay in this story, the quick wit, and dialogue between the characters and I absolutely love that Amy describes Linc as “dishy”! I will be adding that delightful word to my vocabulary!

A fast-paced read that I couldn’t put down until the end, the world that Ms. Blakely creates is fantastic and this story is another jewel in the crown of her books!

The Truths and Lies Duet – Book 2

What a finale to this dark and twisty romance!

The love between Kostas and Talia shine through the pages.

Talia becomes stronger, more resilient and as thirsty for justice and vengeance as Kostas.

Kostas becomes even more swoony with his softer side coming into light.  Don’t be fooled, he still is a dark character but to see him around his true family is just wowza!

There is mystery, action and oh my me the smexiness in this story that you know and love from both Ms. Webster and Ms. Ash!

The writing duo of Ms. Webster and Ms. Ash, as always is flawless and so smooth! It’s a true collaboration and you can see that in the writing style.

This duet is absolutely dark, twisty and fan-flippin-tastic!  Get your hands on it!

The Perfect Storm Series

I knew when I was getting ready to read this I was going to love this story.  Readers were introduced to Ariel in Rainstorm. She was a bit of a mystery wrapped in quirkiness and rainbow-colored hair.

This is Ariel and Lancelot’s story.  It’s an enemy to lovers’ story, however, it’s so much more.  You get a bit of angst, you get laughs and you get a bit of a mystery.

Ariel is such an adorkable heroine.  She is quirky, and because of her past, she is somewhat naive on somethings and worldly in others.  I love her inner dialogue, it’s funny and fresh and oh so real! I admire her strength and tenacity. She is the OG #Goaldigger!

Lancelot is a perfect fit for Ariel, even when they are butting heads.  He is a romantic at heart and isn’t afraid to admit it.  He is Ariel’s soft place to fall when she needs it. However, he is torn between two women and it’s fantastic to read how it plays out!

I loved the set up to every chapter, the little “messages”. The hints of a whole other relationship.

I enjoyed how this story in the series wasn’t as heavy as the first, this story was light and fluffy, like one of Ariel’s cupcakes! It was perfect.

I want to personally thank Susana Mohel for letting me be a part of her writing world! She honors me with her gratitude, her friendship and the acknowledgments made me cry!

My Review…

From the beautiful city of Madrid to the thrilling pitches of European Football, Karina Hale brings a story full of excitement and love that doesn’t judge by age.

First off I want to thank Ms. Halle for writing a story that breaks the stereotype.  That takes away the stigma of an older woman and a younger man dynamic.  It’s encouraging to see vintage gal (like myself) become the heroine in this story and to win the heart of a younger man and football star.

Thalia is the vintage gal and truly encompasses the old adage that “Age is but a number, you are only as old as you feel”.  Her heart has been bruised and broken, and she bravely starts over in the beautiful city of Madrid and working for the Real Madrid football team.

Alejo is the younger man, wise beyond his years in some aspects yet his young years shines through in others.  And oh my me does this fella bring the heat and the swoons to the story!

Ms. Halle is able to bring a realness to her characters and the story is angst-filled and so moving to read. I could so empathize with Thalia’s plight and I was rooting so hard for the relationship that was building between Alejo and Thalia.
