To say I wasn’t in a great mood would be an understatement. I went to bed pissed off at my brothers, the production company, and most of the world—and woke up the same way. If not worse.

 

Although the honey sunning at the side of the pool was a pleasant distraction.

 

Hello, hottie.

 

I couldn’t see her face—she was on her stomach with her head turned away from the building, but her body was banging—curvy and plump in that way that got me hard with just one look. Her dark chocolate hair was up in one of those messy buns girls liked to do to keep their hair out of their face. It was easy to imagine it coming down her back in a luscious curtain. And me holding it in a fist as I knelt behind her…

Fuck.

I hadn’t met whoever had moved into the end unit, but it was past time that I introduce myself.

Ducking inside, I stripped down, pulled on board shorts and my favorite pair of flip flops. After grabbing a towel, some book Sabrina had been nagging me to read, and a pair of sunglasses, I shut and locked my door behind me and made for the pool.

I didn’t have any kind of a plan. Didn’t know what I was going to say. Or do. I figured I’d just wing it.

Reaching the condo’s pool, I tossed my stuff on a lounger. Ms. Hottie was in the same place, only now her head was turned the other way, so I still couldn’t see her face. From all appearances, and despite the book next to her, she was sleeping.

I didn’t want to look like the creeper I was clearly being, so I did the only thing I could think of.

I jumped in.

Diving into the deep end, I started swimming laps. My arms and legs moving in a comfortable rhythm. Soothing. After the second lap, I forgot about the beautiful girl I wanted to talk to. After about the fifth lap, I forgot my anger with my brothers. After the tenth, I forgot about my rage against our producer, James. After my twentieth lap, my stomach started growling.

Damn, I was hungry.

Resting my arms against the edge, I panted a little and took a break. My stomach growled again. Or maybe I was done. I needed breakfast.

“I didn’t know you kept up with your swimming,” Maddie’s voice sounded from my left.

I turned my head and because of the quick glimpse of her I got, I lost my grip. I plunged back into the pool with a splash, water invading my lungs.

Ms. Hottie was Maddie.

 

Maddie.

 

As in my little sister’s best friend, Maddie.

The revelation looped in my brain as I fought back to the surface. Breaking through, I coughed as I tried to breathe again. I pulled myself up onto deck, splayed out on my belly. But I didn’t stay there long.

Hands pulled against torso, urging me to my side. I blinked, and Maddie’s face came into focus as she hovered worriedly above me.

“Oh my god. Are you okay? Did you hit your head or something?”

I tried to scoff, but it came out a rough cough and forced more liquid outta me.

“Let’s get you into the recovery position. Hand under your head and this leg bent.”

My eyes crossed as Maddie leaned over me, her plump breasts straining against her itty-bitty bikini and only centimeters from my mouth.

When the hell did little Maddie Roberts get a body like that?

Christ, how had I missed all of this?

“Nathan? Nathan, are you okay? Oh god. I’m just gonna run in and grab Hope. She’s taken some first aid classes for the Boys and Girls Club. She’ll know what to do.”

The panic in her voice snapped me out of my haze. “Maddie, I’m fine.”

My wheezing breaths belied my words, but I’d stopped her from racing away.

Although, given the way her tits bounced with only a few steps, I was kinda sad when she stopped moving.

Fuck, what was wrong with me? This was my little sister’s best friend. Maddie firmly belonged in the friend zone. No matter how little her bikini was and how deliciously she filled it out.

Friend. Zone.

Right, my dick mocked as it pressed against my board shorts. I’d like to get friendly with her.

Burns Brothers…

I am so enjoying this series! The brothers’ Burns are so dynamic and each has their own strengths and weaknesses. 

This is the story of Nathan and Maddie.

Nathan is the pushy, no holds barred Burns brother. He wants things his way and will do whatever it takes to make it happen, even to his own detriment. He has known Maddie since childhood and has always seen her as a little sister, until one day he doesn’t and boy do the sparks fly!

Maddie has had a not-so-secret crush on Nathan since forever.  When she finally realizes that Nathan will never see her any other way, she decides to move on. (Hint, she doesn’t get far….) 

The chemistry between Maddie and Nathan is hotter than hot! And it was fantastic to see Maddie break out of her shell and embrace her inner goddess! I love how she stood up for herself.  I also enjoyed how the Love Languages played a huge part of this story! 

This can be read as a stand alone and does wonderfully by itself. Do yourself a favor and read this whole series!  I am so hoping for Dylan’s story next!

The Compass Series…

“I love the flashes of love…”

As Connor’s mom would say… oh my lanta! This story is another jewel in the writing crown of Ms. Cherry.  This series is absolutely gripping.

This story of Aaliyah and Conor is going to give you all the feels.  From corny humor to heartbreaking sorrow and the swoons…Oh my me, Connor has got to be one of the swooniest characters I have had the pleasure to read.

A true southern gentleman, Connor is the modern day gent. When fate brings him and Aaliyah together for one evening it’s beautiful, romantic and charming as all get out. He is a classic workaholic and has some deep lingering issues about time, death and living.

Overcoming a difficult and lonely childhood, Aaliyah is working hard to make her dreams come true, even when she trusts too much and gives too much of herself. I admired her bravery and her determination to keep healthy boundaries in place.

I loved the friendship between Red and Cap, I loved how Cap helped Red learn to love herself first before she can love somebody else. And I love how Red fought to find her dream of love, family and somebody to just stay for her.

I caught myself laughing, crying and falling in love with all the characters in this book. This is definitely in the running for one of my “Best Reads of 2021!”

My Review...

I have always loved the characters that Ms. Dunbar has created. This story makes me love her characters even more.

I absolutely loved The Heart Collection.

So reading this story and seeing characters from her past come back to visit was amazing!

A family reunion brings everyone back home! Including Katie and Levi. They have a complicated past and a lifelong crush from Katie.

Levi has scars from his past, both physical and mental. I was able to completely empathize with him. My husband is a wounded vet and I was so impressed by Ms. Dunbar’s realism with Levi. He has known Katie since she was a little girl and leaves for the military with her waiting for her hero.  When he comes home years later he sees that Katie is a little girl no more, she has grown and become a woman that he can see a future with.

Katie has loved Levi since she was a little girl. Levi has always pushed her away because of her age, even with a few hiccups along the way. But Katie has always had a piece of her heart saved just for Levi. 

Their chemistry is breathtaking and I loved the push and pull between the two of them and the love for each other bled through the pages.

I have always said that Ms. Dunbar is the queen of over 40 romances and even though Levi and Katie are a bit younger, they still resonate beautifully with me.

The Buchanan curse strikes again!

I am so enamored by this world that Ms. Sorensen has created in the Green Valley world! Her stories flow so seamlessly into the world that Penny Reid has created and created her own corner of Green Valley that I love just as much!

This is the story of Grady and Magnolia. There is awkwardness aplenty and when the curse strike Grady, well he just doesn’t know what to do!

Magnolia is a southern belle, she was raised on etiquette classes. She was born and bred to be a lady. She knew her place that her family has plotted for her and for the longest time, she did what she was told. When a huge shakeup happens in her world, she realizes just how “go with the flow” she has been doing and she wants to be done. I love her character, her inner strength and her outer beauty. She is a beautiful soul.

Grady is full of big hopes and dreams, he has a million ideas and just doesn’t know how to sort everything out. His organization skills are not pretty and he needs help! When he unknowingly hires Magnolia to help his fledgling business, well the curse strikes him hard! He knows that there is a complicated history between his twin sister and Magnolia, but his heart wants her and he is overwhelming swoony in the way he goes about trying to work everything out.

I could so empathize with both Grady and Magnolia about the trickiness of their situation and their developing relationship. And reading Grady’s honesty and forthrightness was both swoony and scary. 

I absolutely loved this story and I cannot wait to see the next story in this series!

Baker’s Creek Series

This next story in this series, whew! This is the best one so far! This is the story of Beacon and Grace.  

Beacon Aldridge, the youngest of the brothers Aldridge. He has many surprises up his sleeve and oh what a life he leads! I was truly surprised and amazed by him. He is swoony, he is smart and he is a rock legend. His love for Grace knows no limits. He will do anything for her, even if she doesn’t know it.

Grace is absolutely lovely, with a lethal touch! She is a cellist and loves to make music with her best friend Beacon. Her love life needs a boost so she creates a list (you’re gonna love Beacon’s reaction to it!) and enlists Beacon’s help to get through it.

These two have a soul connecting love that bleeds from the pages.  I loved Beacon’s tenacity and I admired Grace’s understanding and patience.  They are truly best friends and when they decided to make it more, the fireworks spark! Their chemistry is one for the ages! She is the calm to his chaos. 

This series just gets better and better and I cannot wait to see Mills story soon!

My Review...

Every time I open a book from Ms. Cole, I know I am going to be both impressed and infatuated by the characters and stories she creates. 

This story is no exception!

I am honestly going to say that I am not a huge fan of the age-gap trope, but I took the chance on one of my favorite authors and it paid off in spades!

This is the twisty story of Jude and Skylar. 

Skylar may be young in age, but she has an old soul and has experiences in her young life that has made her have to grow up quickly. Her heartbreaking early childhood, that Ms. Cole does a moving job in describing, has molded Skylar into the young adult that she is now. She has emotional and mental scars aplenty, but that doesn’t stop her from dreaming of a better life and a way to escape.

Enter Jude, a swoony hero in the extreme.  He is older, but sometimes not wiser fella that hones his hero complex when he sees Skylar. He fights his feeling for her and worries about the stigma attached to him and Skylar.

This story is going to move you. It’s going to make you feel all the feels! The unbelievable writing talent of Ms. Cole shines through in this story about love knowing no bounds and soul mates are truly special!
