Excerpt
I lose the track of my friends’ conversation as the fine
hair at my nape bristles — not unpleasantly — and my gaze lands on the sole
bartender on the other side of the counter.
Everything fades away except him.
I’ve met handsome men, hot men, aristocratic men, charming
men on both sides of the Atlantic. My family alone has four brothers and four
cousins who make women stupid with their looks. Having grown up around such
male beauty, I’ve always considered myself immune — able to appreciate it
without turning into some kind of infatuated drooler.
But the bartender…
Everything about him is absurd.
The absurd perfection of his bone structure. The absurd blue
of his eyes. The absurd firmness of his lips. The absurd muscularity of his
big, strong body.
When our gazes collide, I feel like every cell in my body is
waking up after a lifetime of slumber. My heart beats a little bit faster, a
little bit harder. Blood flows a little quicker, a little hotter.
Is this sexual attraction?
I shake my head inwardly. I’ve felt attraction to guys
before. But nothing like this. This man shines like a brilliant gemstone, like
the heavens opened up and a halo appeared around him.
Then I remember what Grandpa used to say.
“When I first met your grandmother, I knew she was the
one.”
“How?” I asked. An exceptional artist, Grandpa has
a propensity for exaggeration and dramatic flair.
“Because she made me forget where I was. Every time I
laid eyes on her, nothing else mattered. Colors were brighter, food tasted
better, and the air felt cleaner. All because I met her.”
I laughed. “That’s just infatuation, Grandpa.”
He shook his head. “No, no, my little angel. It’s
called love. My soul recognized hers.”
I tried not to laugh at such a ridiculous story. On the
other hand, Grandpa’s first marriage lasted until the death of his wife in a
sailing accident. And by all accounts, they adored each other.
Suddenly Vanessa taps my elbow. “Earth to Elizabeth.
Come on.” She tilts her shiny red head toward the bar. “We’re sitting
at the counter.”
Apparently the decision has been made. “Okay.” I
park my butt across from the bartender, Grandpa’s words about soul mates
circling in my head.
Because if this bartender’s mine, he’s popped up at the most
inconvenient time and the most inconvenient location.

My Review…

Wow! This is the first book I have read by Nadia, but it certainly will not be my last!

This the first part of a duet, I just finished and I already want my grabby hands on the next installment!

This is the story of Elizabeth (Liza) and Dominic.  Their chemistry is off the charts hot and when they met, they were so young! “A fifth of a second..” That’s what Dominic learns, a fifth of a second is all that it takes to fall in love with someone, and he did hard!

Dominic has had a tough childhood.  But he has risen above and is even caring for his younger sister.

Elizabeth wants to break free of the gilded cage she lives in, she wants to be who she wants to be and do what she wants to do, but that is just not in the cards for her.

After a whirlwind romance of the two young lovers, something devastating happens and they forced apart, with anger and heartbreak and so much misunderstanding.  It broke my heart as well.

Ten years later, Dominic King now rules his own universe and he is gunning for revenge against the lovely Elizabeth, and even though you know it’s not fair, you have to go by what he knows at the time.

Elizabeth has been forced to take on a persona, a mask of elegance, grace and dignity.  She knows what she did, she knows that Dominic wants his revenge and she even prays for that to happen.  Even if she isn’t at fault!

This story is gripping, I could not put it down once I started! I finished with so many questions!  I hope to all that is holy that I get my answers in the second part of this duet! I l am so invested in this story! The way that Nadia finished this! What a helluva cliffhanger!  So well done! Get this book! Enjoy it slowly so you don’t miss anything!

My Review…

The Avenue Series – Book One

I was so excited when I found out that B. was starting a new series!  I have loved her writing since her first book The Brightest Star.  I was a fan from the get-go!

About Time is a story about just that, time.  No matter how much passes, when you have met “the one” you hope and pray that you find each other again even if you don’t realize that is what you are doing.  The little things add up to so much more in this story.

Ashton (Kitten) and Duncan (Dunk, Andrew), the nicknames were fantastic! And I have to find a t-shirt like Ashton’s (not gonna spoil, just saying I gotta get one!)

They way that these two meet, it was a sad, sorry situation but I applauded Ashton’s strength.  Throughout the whole story her strength and bravery shone through and it was beautiful!

Duncan, oh Duncan! He was so swoony, I loved his dialogue! I loved his perseverance and I could understand why he did what he thought he had to do.

The slow build of the real relationship was such a fantastic juxtaposition with their physical relationship! I liked the quick connection with past characters, it was just a fly by but it flowed with the story just perfectly! I hope to see more from her new characters in future stories, I would list who I want to see more of, but again, don’t want to spoil it for the reader! (B, I can send you a list!)

B.’s words are real, they are witty, they are smexy as hell and they are so, so good!  Get this book! Get all her books! You won’t be sorry!

Blurb
Four guys.

Constant moaning.

And a revolving door across the college suite I somehow ended up in because my
first name is Shawn.

They don’t discriminate. Girls. Guys. Grandmas. Plants (okay maybe not plants)
all walks of life stroll in stressed to the brim, and leave so satisfied I’m
wondering what sort of talents lie behind that door.

My roommate calls them the pleasure ponies.

But the rest of the college campus?

They just call them the new face of Wingmen Inc. A paid for relationship
service that makes big promises.

Breakup? They’ll glue you back together again.

Depressed? They have the magic pill.

Lonely? Just spend a few minutes while they rub you down and you’ll forget all
about it.

And broken hearts? Well, that’s their specialty. They’ll fix you.

For a price…

I swore I wouldn’t get involved.

But apparently they like a challenge, and a girl who doesn’t put up with their
BS is basically like waving a red flag in front of a bull.

They. All. Charged.

But one holds my attention above the rest.

Knox Turner looks like a Viking — and getting pillaged is starting to look more
appealing by the day. Though he’s hiding something — all of them are. And the

I would regret it later – my heart knew it – but I was a
caretaker by nature, so when I grabbed his hand and gave it a tug toward the
bed, I was surprised he followed.
Even more surprised that when he joined me in his bed, he didn’t try to pull me
into his embrace; he didn’t even touch me, just laid there and stared up at the
ceiling like the monsters were going to come back.

“You need to sleep,” I whispered, turning on my side and facing him.
“Or you’ll be even grumpier in the morning.”

He smiled at that. “Am I really that grumpy?”

“Scale of one to ten?” I shrugged. “You flirt with an eight or
nine on a good day.”

“Shit.” He took a deep breath. “For the record, I’m sorry.”

“For?”

“Being myself.” He didn’t offer any more explanation. Instead, he
turned away from me, tucked a pillow under his head, and slept.

We were strangers.

And still, when I woke up with the bed empty…

I realized.

It was the first time I’d slept through the night since transferring, and it
would happen to occur in my enemy’s bed.

My Review…

This story is a reverse harem with a Rachel twist and it’s fabulous!

This story is about Shawn (the gal!), Knox, Leo, Finn and Slater.

Shawn is strong, she has to be. Because of hatred and bigotry she transfers to a new college for a new start and hopefully more of a feeling on belonging. Because of a mixup her roommate is Slater.  The downfall of having a quote, unquote boy’s name.

And oh the “Pleasure Ponies”! (Love this!) What an introduction to the group! The dialogue between these characters is fantastically funny and you can tell that they are brothers from another mothers!  They are part of a new Wingman, Inc and they steal the show!

Knox is the one that falls for Shawn and oh how wonderfully he fell.  The chemistry between these two was off the charts! The looks, the small touches, the gazes, the small quips between the two.  Swoon worthy on so many levels!

There is a bit of angst and some sadness in this story too, but it’s done beautifully.  Rachel really knows when to add it in just the right way at just the right time.

I have yet to read a Rachel Van Dyken story and not fall in love with her writing all over again.  This spinoff of the Wingman, Inc series is just another prime example of her phenomenal work!

Thank you for your words and the worlds you create Rachel!

You know what’s even better than marrying a billionaire? Having his baby.
We’re ready. We’ve studied and planned, read all the birth and labor
books, researched parenting classes, consulted our schedules, and it’s time.
And by we I mean me.
Declan’s just ready for the “have lots of sex” part. More than
ready.
But there’s just one problem: my husband and his brother have this little
obsession with competition.
And by little, I mean stupid.
That’s right.
We’re not just about to try to bring a new human being into the world.
We have to do it better, Faster, Stronger.
Harder.
McCormick men don’t just have babies.
They engage in competitive billionaire Babythons.
I thought the hardest part about getting pregnant would be dealing with
my grandchild-crazed mother, who will go nuts shopping for a billionaire’s
baby.
Wrong.
Between conception issues, my mother’s desire to talk to the baby through
a hoo-haw cam, a childbirth class led by a drill sergeant and a father-in-law
determined to sign the kid up for prep school before Declan even pulls out, my
pregnancy has turned out to be one ordeal after the other.
But it’s nothing — nothing
compared to the actual birth.

“A baby is

My Review…

I absolutely flove this series by Julia Kent! I have been so anxiously waiting for this book and it did not disappoint!

Declan and Shannon are trying to have a baby! And in their true style, nothing goes smoothly but what a hell of a ride to get there!

I swear Shannon is my spirit animal, my sister from another mister! She is a fabulously hot mess, but she does it with such style! You can’t help but love her harder in this book. She has her doubts, she has her fears but she comes through it brilliantly!

Oh Declan, he is the calm in Shannon’s emotional storms, but he too has some lessons to learn in this too.  He tries so hard to not be like his father, but sometimes he doesn’t even realize that he is like him.  But when it’s pointed out, he does his damndest to change and you can’t help but love him more too!

This story is funny, it’s moving and it’s so real!  All the secondary characters you have met in the previous books make an appearance, it’s like a fantastic reunion!

I love and hate how the book ends! You know your gonna get more from Julia in the future, but I want it now! (Insert my best Verruca Salt impression here)  I bow down to your great writing Julia! I cannot wait to see what comes next!!

Dark Intentions #2

Wow! What a conclusion to this duet!

Sinister Love is the climatic end to the story of Saskia and Ryken.

T.L. writes dark and dirty and it’s really, really good! She pulls no punches in the world she created. You can feel the emotions of each of the characters in the story.

Saskia and Ryken’s love is sometimes dark and twisted, but other times it’s beautiful! Their chemistry is off the charts even after years have passed.  Even though there are people trying to keep them separated they persevered.

This was a fast paced story with lots of turns and one heck of a big twist at the end!

Be sure to read book one, Distorted Love before you dive into this story!

Thanks for a fantastic duet!

Holly has spent her whole life as a walking disaster, from running into walls, tripping over invisible objects, and always being in the wrong place at the wrong time. When a seemingly normal outing taking her overly opinionated Corgi for a walk resulted in an object to the face, she didn’t think her day could get any worse. The moment she opened her eyes and saw the Adonis standing over her, she knew she’d been wrong. It was about to get a whole lot worse.

Ben’s lived his whole life disobeying his uptight, self-centered, shrew of a mother. Instead of going into the family business, he followed his dreams and opened his veterinarian clinic. One ordinary day at the dog park, and a rogue dog toy later, he found himself captivated by the curvy woman that had a feistiness which set him on fire.

It could only get better from here, right? Too bad his mother had other plans.
“Watch out!”
Holly Flanagan heard a commotion coming from the other side of the park. Ignoring the shouting, she bent over focusing on picking up her Corgi, Waffles, most recent deposit. With Holly’s track record, though, she should have known anyone yelling “watch out,” “take cover,” or “that’s about to fall” was directed at her. Even after years of being the spokesperson for “unlucky,” “klutzy,” and “clumsy” she still disregarded the shouting as she carried on with her dog parent duties.
Before she could register what happened, she was knocked onto her back with a pain radiating from her mouth and nose.
“Well, at least the sky is pretty today,” Holly mumbled as she tried to get her bearings. She reached for her mouth as she felt the pain start to spread.
“Ma’am, are you okay?”
Holly closed her eyes pondering that exact question. Was she okay? She’d just been hit with something in her mouth. She was pretty sure some part of her face, she didn’t know which part, but she was sure something was bleeding. Waffles started barking uncontrollably, and her head hurt. So, was she okay?
Holly sighed. Yeah, she was fine. This was just another day for her, and so far, if being hit by an unknown projectile to the face was the worst thing that happened to her, she’d considered it a good day.
Opening her eyes, she gasped. Above her, only a mere few inches from her face was by far, the most handsome man she had ever laid eyes on. He had dark brown hair and deep blue eyes that were richer than the ocean. His jaw was chiseled, with a light dusting of scruff, in the Alpha male, I’m in charge here kind of way.
Wonderful. Okay, let’s add embarrassing yourself in front of a Greek God to your lists of attributes for the day. Hey, it can only get better from here, right?
She realized she was staring at him for what could have been considered too long. She quickly jerked her head forward trying to right herself. Unfortunately, for her, she slammed her head right into the Greek God’s forehead.

Much like any author out there, sleeping does not come easy to Molly. As it turns out, she has horrible insomnia . When she was younger, to help herself fall asleep she would recite stories. Each night she’d pick up where the story left off previously until the tale was complete. One morning, after she finished a particularly fun adventure, she decided she wanted to start sharing them with others. A few months later, here she is, sharing her lack of sleep with all of you. Who says the stories in our heads can’t be fun for others?
Also, she loves Fun Facts. New ones are at the end of each of her book. If you look close enough, some are hidden on her website too.

Excerpt

It’s closing time and Vikki and I are busy cleaning, so we
can get home. My phone beeps with an incoming text and I look down at it and growl.
“You can’t be serious.” Staring back at me isn’t a text from Jake, but from
Anonymous. Even though I deleted and blocked the number ninety days ago, I
still recognize it.
Vikki moves closer, her eyes wide. “What’s going on?”
I show her the text.
Anonymous: 31773?
Brows furrowed, she sits back. “What does that mean?” I turn
my phone upside down, so she can see that the number spells out my name. Her
eyes widen. “Wow, that’s cool you can type your name with numbers.”
“But not so cool when I don’t know who the person is,” I
counter. “About three months ago, I got texts from this exact same person.
Whoever it is likes to play games. I’m sick of it and I want them to leave me
alone.” Taking a deep breath, I type out a reply.
Me: WHO IS THIS?
Anonymous: Why
all the yelling?
I roll my eyes. This is just ridiculous.
Me: I like using
all caps.
Anonymous: Don’t
stop on my account. So, what have you been up to? Been a while since we talked.

Me: Yeah, it’s
because I blocked the number.
Anonymous: Why?
Me: BECAUSE I
DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!!!!!
“What is he saying?” Vikki asks. I show her the texts and
her eyes widen. “So, you haven’t talked to him since you blocked the number?”
I think back to when I blocked it and if my calculations are
correct, the ninety days was up yesterday. “No, but he has perfect timing. My
ninety days ran up yesterday. I might need to run to the cell store and see if
they can block it permanently.”
My phone beeps again and a sharp pain settles in my gut. I
just want whoever it is to leave me alone.
Anonymous: That
hurts. You’ve always been friendly toward me.
Me: Obviously not
friendly enough, if you can’t tell me who you are. It’s weird and it makes me
uncomfortable. You need to leave me the hell alone. Don’t text, call, or try to
contact me in any way. I’m happily married, and I want it to stay that way.
GOODBYE!
Heart racing, I log into my cell phone account and before I
can block the number, another text comes through.
Anonymous: Sorry
31773 but that’s not going to happen.
The blood in my veins runs cold. Hands shaking, I block his
number and my phone drops onto the table. Vikki picks it up and reads the final
text, her face growing pale.
“I don’t think this person’s going away.”

My Review…

Wow! This book hooked me from the get go! I couldn’t put it down!

This story is really about Ellie, but this so much more than just a romance, this is suspense, this is a real who done it!

Ellie is tormented by random texts from a stranger (or so she thinks!) Unfortunately it’s someone even closer than she could even imagine.

The twists and turns in this story had me guessing, just when I think I had the answer, BOOM, I was wrong. L.P. really keeps you on your toes with this story.  You really have to take your time reading because there are clues from the get go and if you just try to breeze through it, you will lose vital clues to who the real evil is.

Ellie and Jake’s love is true, the smexy times between them are hot.  I like that there wasn’t an overabundance of steamy times because this story was such a mystery and it was just the right balance.

There are many shady characters that could easily be the one tormenting Ellie and I really enjoyed how the story played out. This story grabbed me by the throat and I was turning pages and staying up waaaay too late to try to get as much of the story in before sleep took me.  That to me is a true testament of a good book.

Get this story, really read it and see if you can figure out who it is! It’s a shocker but when you do find out, you will see there was hints the whole time!

Thank you so much for this book L.P.! It was fascinating!

Moving two thousand miles away wasn’t my plan, but when family needs you, you come.
Before I can head back to my hometown of Chicago though, I have two men to say good-bye to in Los Angeles. Neither one of them will be happy to hear the news. One is losing his assistant and the other his seven-year-old daughter. Neither will be an easy sell on my part, but I have no choice, and I’m not exactly thrilled with starting over with a Clean Slate.
This is a PREQUEL to our Charity Case Series.

When I started this blog, I did it purely for the joy of promoting my love of reading and my love of authors! So when I receive a gift from an author as a thank you, well that’s just the cherry on top of my sundae!

So imagine my surprise when I received this today!

After a crazy week, including surgery, this made my day!

Thank you Susana Mohel!
