I’m startled out of my thoughts when my brother jumps up and shouts a bunch of profane nonsense, hands flailing like he’s trying to swim on land, or approximate the chicken dance while on an LSD trip.
“You can’t do this! It’s absolute bullshit!” Armstrong yells.
I look around the table, trying to piece together what I missed.
“I’m sorry, Armstrong. I know this is a shock, but we feel it’s in the company’s best interest to put Lincoln at the helm during this transitional stage,” G-mom says firmly.
At the helm? I look to G-mom who’s busy not looking at me.
Armstrong jabs at finger at himself. “But I’m the one who’s put in all the time here! I deserve to run the company! Lincoln doesn’t know the first thing about Moorehead. All he knows how to do is dig wells and forage for food in the wilderness. How are those valuable assets here?” He turns his attention to our mother. “Did you know about this? How can you let this happen? Look at him. How can that be the face of our company? He looks like he crawled out of a gutter and mugged a twenty-year-old college kid on a bender. How is this better for our bottom line?”
My mother clasps her hands in front of her. “I’m sorry, Armstrong, but this decision wasn’t mine to make. I know this is hard for you, but your grandmother and fath—”

Armstrong stomps his foot, exactly as a toddler would. “The company is mine! Lincoln can’t have it!”
I raise a hand, half to quiet my brother and also to find out what the freaking deal is. “Whoa, let’s back this bus up. Can someone explain what’s going on?”
“You’ve been appointed as the CEO of Moorehead Media, according to the will,” Christophe—no R, because that would make it far too pedestrian a name—my father’s lawyer says.
I’m working on trying to remain calm as I address my grandmother. “You didn’t say anything about me being CEO. You said you needed my help.”
“Running the company, yes,” she says through a practiced, stiff smile.
It’s her warning face, but seriously, when she said she needed my help for a few months I figured it meant I’d be keeping Armstrong in line while she sorted out who was going to take over the company, which I realize now was a stupid assumption.
“I didn’t think that meant CEO. How am I going to run a company with this dickhead on staff?” I motion to my brother.
“The name calling is unnecessary,” G-mom replies.
“Lincoln’s not even part of this family! He hasn’t attended one event in the past five years except for Dad’s funeral. He didn’t bother coming to my wedding and now he’s going to run the company? How is that fair?” I snort. “Your wedding was an expensive joke.” He crosses his arms over his chest. “I was set up. Amalie had cold feet and
made me out to look like the bad guy.”

The woman beside him shoots him disgusted look. Armstrong clears his throat and tugs at his collar. “My wedding is not the real issue. The point is that you’ve never involved yourself in any part of this family and now you think you can come in and take over. I will not stand by and let this happen!” He keeps jabbing his finger at me, as if he’s engaged in a finger sword fight. I lean back in my chair and lace my fingers behind my neck. Armstrong has always been reactive. And self-absorbed. For a while it seemed like he finally had it together—back when he was engaged. But ever since that fiasco of a wedding he seems to have come completely unglued. Again. But worse this time. “Someone needs a timeout.”

Granite Lake Romance

Another new to me author, another fantastic story!

There are other books in this series, which I know have on my TBR list. But I can honestly say this can be read as a total stand alone.

This is the story of Autumn and Shane and their crazy adventure together.

I absolutely loved Autumn! I loved her quirkiness, her lust for adventure. I also admired her honesty and her willingness to admit her vulnerabilities. She was a delight to read about and uncover. She is the kind of character I wished I had as a best friend.

Shane is the best of an alpha, anti-hero. He doesn’t do relationships, he doesn’t do commitments, but finds himself in the very definition of both. How he is able to navigate the adventures with Autumn is fun, steamy and funny!

Shane and Autumn’s chemistry is off the charts! I loved how Shane accepted Autumn’s quirks and sassiness with ease. They are like two puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly.

I also enjoyed how their relationship developed. There was no clinginess, no big moan and groan on Autumn’s part about how Shane felt about her. Sure she wondered for a bit, then she got into her groove and rolled with the punches.

The secondary characters are fantastic and I can’t wait to go back and read their stories in the previous books!

Well done Ms. Kessler!! I can’t wait to read more in the future!

What a terrific writing duo!

Hosed is the story of Cassie, Ryan and the small town of Happy Cat!

This story is so, so funny! This story also has a lot swooniness and steaminess! The perfect combo!

From George Clooney, to Satan’s sex juice to Google Fu you will get the laughter that you need and a bit of mystery and drama to boot. I loved reading the InstaChat of the town!

Cassie is trying hard to cover for her absentee sister in running the Sunshine Toys. The adult toy company is the talk of the town, for both supporters and people against it. Cassie has always been the wallflower, the computer nerd who hasn’t the first clue on the products she is currently in charge of manufacturing and selling.

Ryan is a firefighter….need I say more? He is also the man who unwittingly broke Cassie’s heart back in high school. A bad case of miscommunication was the only mistake on his part.

The chemistry between Ryan and Cassie is hotter than the flames that erupt during their first meeting.

The flow of this story is phenomenal, I couldn’t differentiate between Pippa and Lili’s writing and that’s a sign of a dynamic writing duo!

I am hoping with the clues left in this story that there may be more to come from the residents of Happy Cat! I will keep my fingers crossed!

The Forge Trilogy…Book One

I am one of those unfortunate souls that haven’t read a Meghan March book. Now before you start chasing me with pitchforks and torches, let me say that I have some of her books, some that were gifted to me and some that I grabbed when they were on sale. They have been on my TBR list for way too long and when the opportunity came for me to start a reading a brand new trilogy from her, I felt like this was a sign from the higher powers (or the Devil…ironic, I think not) to remedy my situation.

Deal With The Devil….what a perfect name for this story! This is the beginning of the affair between Jericho Forge and India Baptiste.

Set in the beautiful island of Ibiza, Ms. March’s words make you feel as you are right there, whether it be in a opulent casino, a cozy beachfront flat or a majestic super-yacht.

We get the introduction of both main players in this story, with just hints and little tidbits of their back stories.

Jericho Forge is a force of nature, he is a self made man. He is almost omnipotent in his power and influence in those who he deems worthy to revolve in his orbit. When he sets his sights on India Baptiste, he is determined to have her. The reasons why are slowly given to you in this story.

India Baptiste is in a dire situation, with a goal in sight. She is a champion poker player with a game face that nobody can break. She hits a major stumbling block in her pursuit of her goal when she is introduced to Jericho Forge. But is he the saving grace she needs or the devil she doesn’t know.

The secondary characters bring such drama and depth to this already fantastic story.

Ms. March is the queen of tease! You are going to be left panting for more at the end of this, I bet you!!
