“I can’t tonight. I have a date,” I blurt out, remembering David. The dating app. The
asshole who isn’t an asshole.

Yet. I haven’t met him, so that judgment remains withheld.

“A date?” Will asks, intrigued.

“Yes. A date. You know, that thing where you go out with someone who has no intention of really getting to know you and you spend the entire time eating bread that
doesn’t taste as good as your date claims and trying to decide whether to initiate rescue-text sequences with your mom.”

“That’s your idea of a date?”

“That is my actual experience of every date I’ve had since college.”

“You’re dating the wrong guys.” He holds my gaze for just a little too long. I look away.

“I have to keep fishing in the pond if I ever want to catch a different one.”

“If that’s the way you talk to your dates, I am beginning to understand why they all turn out so badly.”

“Hey!”

“What?”

“Don’t accuse me of being a bad date. I’m a great date! I Google the guy in advance
and read his LinkedIn profile. I make sure I don’t wear super-tall heels in case he lied about his height on his dating profile. I pretend to care about all his hobbies and don’t reveal that I’m secretly tallying all the micro-aggressions he’s sending my way during appetizers and wine. And if he makes it to dessert, well–” I falter.

“You never make it to dessert, do you?” Will asks, eyebrows up. He drops them quickly, wincing.

“I–well–it’s not that I don’t. He doesn’t!”

“He ditches you?”

“No! No! It’s just that he always has a thing.”

“A thing?”

“A work emergency. Or a dog with a twisted bowel. Or a grandma in the ER.”

“How many guys used the twisted-canine-intestine thing?”

“Three.” I sit down and sag against his teenage desk, elbows sliding forward, fingers deep in my hair. “I looked it up. There’s an entire subreddit devoted to inventive ways to get out of a bad date.”

“And yet here you are.” He leans against the edge of his desk. “Trying again.”

“I’m a masochist.”

His eyes gleam. “Maybe you should start your dates with that line. ‘Hi. I’m Mallory
Monahan. I’m a masochist.’ You’d definitely make it to dessert.”

My Review…

You know, I get giddy every time I pick up a Julia Kent story, want to know why?  Because she creates worlds I want to be in.  She weaves stories that make you laugh, characters you can relate to and the swoon and smexiness that makes you blush in all the best ways!

Fluffy is all of the above and then some!

This is the story of Mallory and Will.

Mallory is just everything!  She is marching to the beat of her own drum.  She made choices and decisions that made her happy.  And goodness how I loved her naiveté! However, there is still a lingering unresolved feeling that presents itself when Will moves back to her hometown.  Her lifelong crush, her teenaged dream.  She never had the cajones to make her feelings known when they were in school together.

She still has some baggage from high school that has never been unpacked.  Her friends are amazing and we all need those type of “ride or die” pals in your life! Mallory’s epiphany is what I really related to, the let it go moment.  Time to break the chains of other peoples beliefs and expectations and create your own.

Fluffy is a fun romantic comedy that made me laugh out loud, the dialogue is stellar!! Made me want to hug Mallory, and made me swoon in all the best ways!!

In, two, three, out, two. Shit. I tried again. In, two, three, out, two, three. It wasn’t helping. My heart was hammering against my chest, my palms were sweaty, and images of hundreds and hundreds of faces staring at me flashed into my head.

I ignored the knock on my office door. I was too concerned about what was happening to me. Was it possible to have a heart attack at twenty-eight?

“Truly,” a familiar, male voice called.

Louise Bay can do no wrong!! Every story just gets better and better

This is the story of Truly and Noah, a beautiful friends to lovers romance.

This is another story that really brings you into the world that Ms. Bay creates.  London and New York.  Even though I am not British, I feel as though I could be! With the lingo and mannerisms, you feel like you are there.

What I really enjoyed about this story is the fresh take on the heroine feeling as though she isn’t good enough and that directs how she relates to Noah.  She is quirky and a bit awkward but she is true to herself and even a bit too hard on herself.

The friendship between Truly and Noah is perfect. I loved how Noah embraced Truly’s quirks and idiosyncrasies and made her see how much more she could be.  I admired how Noah pushed Truly out of her comfort zones.

The chemistry between these two is electric and the things that Noah does for Truly is just swoon! I am not gonna name anything specific but trust me you are going to find something that makes you swoon too!

Get your hands on this story, it’s just brilliant!

Oh I knew I was gonna love this book, I mean come on, more Morgan family goodness, it’s like a no brainer for me and I floved Rockstar.

This is Dax’s story. I love this introverted extrovert.  I could totally empathize with him.

This story is going to give you all the feels! It gives you laughter and love.  It also gives you heartbreak and tears.  I think the thing I loved most about this story is the realism.  Not everyone gets a happily ever after.  Hearts and feelings get hurt and not all love stories are unicorns and rainbows. Ms. Rowe makes magic with her words, she brings the real and grit to the story.

The lyrics in this story are amazing, and as an avid music lover, Ms. Rowe really knocks it out of the solar system with the words that flow.

The angst in this story is epic.  It’s honest and heartfelt and there really isn’t a right answer.  But in true Morgan family fashion, it’s all comes down to your family, your tribe and what makes you happy is what matters the most.  Screw the haters and the shamers, when it comes down to love, you do you and what’s best for those that you love. I admire that!

Wether you are new to Lauren Rowe or have been with her since the beginning, get your hands on this story! It’s music for your heart and soul and will make you light up like a firefly!

My Review…

Oh how I love this writing duo! Their writing is seamless, flowing together beautifully, I can never tell which author wrote which passage or chapter.  That is a great testament to their phenomenal collaboration and writing talent.

This is a lovely story of Willow and Reid. This is a true friends to lovers romance with a touch of angst to keep things interesting and a humor that will make you laugh out loud.

I applauded the strength of Willow, she had a plan, a future and she stood strong in keeping what she wanted most. Even to the detriment of some of the people closest to her.

I loved the friendship between Willow and Reid! It was an amazing friendship that turned into a blazing hot, beautiful romance.

Even with their very different backgrounds and families, the way that Willow and Reid “clicked” was so fun to read. Their teasing and bickering was fantastic.  Their chemistry together was absolutely swoon worthy and just….whew….so hot.

I have read and loved all the books that this duo has written and this story is no exception! Get your hands on this, you won’t regret it!

My Review…

I’m going to be honest, the young adult trope usually isn’t my go to for reading.  Most often than not I just get discouraged by the immaturity.

But let me tell you, I was happily surprised by this story from Ms. Hughes.

The story was about college aged characters but there was a depth to them that you don’t normally see, and I greatly appreciated.

I enjoyed Seph’s maturity and her wide eyed innocence. I could empathize with her social awkwardness and wanting to be a part of something.  Her earlier childhood was nothing but tragic in its own way and her chance for rebellion was fantastic.

Reece, what a character.  His maturity evolved even more throughout the book and I was rejoicing in it!

The chemistry between Reece and Persephone was beautiful to read.  It was a bit of a slow burn with the friendship aspect that really rings true.

The secondary characters are fantastic and bring so much more to the story! I cannot wait to read more about them in upcoming stories!
