Blurb:

The first time I met Ian Kemp in the sparkling blue waters of St. Thomas, I was six years old and we shared a summer beneath the stars.
The second time I met Ian Kemp, he was a shell of the boy I once knew. Turbulent and infuriating, he refused my friendship at every turn. Like me, he was a casualty of life’s cruelty, but we were planets apart.
We’d both sought refuge on the island, hoping to find our anchor. Instead, we found each other and managed to reclaim our stars…until we both got swept away.

About the Author:

A Texas native, Kate Stewart lives in North Carolina with her husband, Nick, and her naughty beagle, Sadie. She pens messy, sexy, angst-filled contemporary romance as well as romantic comedy and erotic suspense because it’s what she loves as a reader. Kate is a lover of all things ’80s and ’90s, especially John Hughes films and rap. She dabbles a little in photography, can knit a simple stitch scarf for necessity, and on occasion, does very well at whiskey.

My Review…

I absolutely love Kate Stewart’s work!

I fell in love with The Real and I fell even harder for this book Someone Else’s Ocean.

This is the story of Ian and Koti.

After a terrible incident, a final straw, Koti runs from her life in New York to St. Thomas to find her new normal, her bubble.  The last place she felt truly happy. She learns to address her issues in a healthier way and she feels like she is thriving.

Ian, in the midst of a messy divorce, finds out some devastating news.  He runs away essentially to lick his wounds in private. To read about the devastation he feels just about ripped my heart out! He runs to St. Thomas, where he sees Koti again.

They spent a summer together as children and learned to like each other back then. After a horrible first reunion they try to find their friendship again.

I so admired how Kate wrote about Ian’s selfishness, how he needed to be selfish for a while.  I admired how he was honest with Koti about his feelings.  He was swoony and I would die for a chance to hear that accent of his.

From the beautiful beaches of St. Thomas, Ian and Koti create their bubble.  Even knowing that it’s just temporary, life and responsibilities have declared that their new found friendship and love is just a moment in time.  Both know their hearts will be broken when the summer ends.

From the wonderful secondary characters, the smoldering hot sexiness and the humor, this story has it all! This is a must read and I am adding this to my running list of “Best of 2018” reads for me!  Well done Ms. Stewart! I tip my hat to you!
