Marble isn’t the only thing that’s hard at this museum.

His body is as chiseled as Adonis. His lips are as sculpted as David. And his ego is the size of the Guggenheim.

You know the type—wolfish smile and the gravity of a black hole. The kind of man who sucks all the air from the room the second he enters it. My cocky boss thinks this internship was wasted on me, and he doesn’t hesitate to let me know.

But he’s wrong, and I’m going to prove it to him. If I can stay away from his devil lips, that is. Lips that cut me down and kiss me in the same breath, leaving me certain he’s on a mission to ruin my life.

And maybe my heart.

Excerpt:

He smirked and flipped up his sunglasses.

Bastard.

“You’re early,” I clipped.

“I would have had my assistant text you, but she’s currently bedridden.”

You could have texted me.”

“I didn’t have your number,” he said simply.

“Oh.”

His eyes shifted to look behind me, and I turned to find my friends standing me in a row with my suitcase in front of them, my messenger bag on top, and fake smiles on all their faces, lips together, their judgment about as quiet as a foghorn.

“These your roommates?”

“Yup,” was all I said as I turned and took my suitcase, hugging each of them down the line with promises to text when we landed. And then I turned to Court, rolling my suitcase in front of me like like a riot shield.

I tried to pick it up to carry it over the threshold, but it was heavy, and before I could get far, he’d swept it out of my hands like it was a loaf of bread and not fifty pounds of mascara and shoes.

I waved at my friends, who offered encouraging smiles and hand gestures, and I closed that door, immediately regretting every decision I’d made to bring me to the moment I turned around.

He stood at the door to the backseat, holding it open for me like a gentleman, which I knew he was not. But the look on his face of regret and deference, under the hard shell of his brooding, was almost too much to bear.

So I did the only thing I could.

I ignored him.

I ignored his gorgeous lips as they tilted and the sleek cut of his jaw as I walked past him. I ignored the sight of his long legs as he climbed in next to me and the smell of him that made me want to grab him by the lapels of his jacket and bury my nose in his chest.

The driver took off, and I busied myself in my bag, looking for my headphones and book.

His eyes were on me. I pretended like I didn’t notice.

“You’re not wearing lipstick,” he stated.

Headphones, headphones, headphones. “It’s an international flight, Court. Of course I’m not wearing red lipstick for a ten hour flight.”

A pause. “Rin, I—”

Aha! I popped in my earbuds the second they were in hand.

His lips flattened, his face unamused. Rin, his lips said, but I smiled and shrugged, pointing to my ears.

“Noise canceling,” I said way too loud.

His chest rose and fell with a sigh I couldn’t hear—I’d already turned on music, a playlist we’d built the night before geared toward resisting douchery and unwanted-slash-totally-wanted advances—and he reached into his own bag, a leather affair at his feet, his hand disappearing into the bag and reappearing with a book, which he handed to me.

He watched me with his expression shrouded as I paused, my eyes on the offered book. An image of Penitent Magdalene by Tintoretto filled the cover, and I met his eyes, pulling my earbuds out by the cord.

“I thought you could use this. For your proposal,” he said, giving nothing away. “I…A colleague of mine wrote it, so if you have any questions, I can connect you. If you want.”

I took it from his hand, surprised and disarmed. “Thank you,” was all I said. He opened his mouth as if to speak again, but closed it, and with a nod, he reached back into his bag for his own book. Margaret Atwood’s Oryx and Crake.

I put my earbuds back in place, trying not to bite my lip, but it found its way between my teeth despite the effort at the sight of him sitting there, dressed like that, reading Margaret Atwood. After giving me a thoughtful gift, a book he knew I would want, one I would need for my dissertation.

Court Lyons made about as much sense to me as a scrambled up Rubik’s Cube.

I leaned against the door as I flipped through his gift, doing my best to sort through the rush of questions and confusion as Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s sang about being cheated by the opposite of love. And I found I knew exactly the feeling.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

The Wild Heir by Karina Halle

Publication Date: May 17th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance

The Wild Heir AMAZON (1)

At first glance I probably seem like any good-looking guy in their late twenties. I have an obscene amount of confidence, a tattooed body sculpted by the Nordic gods, and I love the ladies as much as they love me.

If I’m not BASE jumping or car racing, I’m chasing other devious thrills with the woman of the week. And that’s fine if you’re the average single guy.
But I’m not the average single guy.

I’m Crown Prince Magnus of Norway and my latest scandal just landed my entire royal family in hot water.

Now the only way the monarchy can save face is for me to smarten up – publicly. If I don’t, I’ll no longer be heir apparent to the throne. So it’s either I abdicate my future role as King or…
I get married.
To a blue-blooded stranger.

Enter Princess Isabella of the tiny country of Liechtenstein.

Quiet, intelligent, and uniquely beautiful, Ella doesn’t like this arrangement any more than I do and she’s not afraid to show it. She says I’m a womanizer, that I don’t take anything seriously, that my ego should be taken down a few pegs, and I think she aims to make me miserable for the rest of my life.

But even as our arranged marriage becomes a war of wit and words, I’m determined to break through Ella’s prim and proper façade to find the wild, sexual and risk-taking woman underneath. I want to uncover the Queen inside her.

The only question is – will she let me?

The Wild Heir is a standalone full-length royal romance.

My Review…

Oh how I was waiting so patiently for Magnus’ story! And boy did Karina deliver!

Wild Heir is the story of Prince Magnus and Princess Isabella (Ella).

We met Magnus in The Swedish Prince.  I knew then I wanted to get more of my homie’s (I am third generation Norwegian) story.  Magnus is a “wild” one.  And he has finally done something so terrible that he knows he has to change his ways.

Princess Isabelle has been in “exile” for most of her life and she has no clue on what it is to be royal.

Ella and Magnus’ chemistry is off the charts!! Magnus has a talent for the dirty talk and boy oh boy did it make me blush!

This is a fast paced, funny story that touched upon some topics that really hit home for me, it explains why Magnus does the things he does.  The secondary characters are fantastic and really bring more depth to the story! I am hoping that one character in particular gets his own story too! (I don’t want to name, names and ruin it for anyone)

I have really enjoyed this loosely based series, I say loosely based because Wild Heir can truly be read as a stand alone.  I enjoy the settings, the pageantry and the royalness of it!  Romantic comedies are my favorite books to read and this book has the fun factor in spades!  This fun, steamy book is definitely a must read!!

Thank you for your words and stories Karina! I cannot wait to read more!

Technically Married_FINAL!

BLURB

Their love always sizzled but after a misunderstanding, it suddenly fizzled. What drove them apart might just be what brings them back together again.

Max is a good guy. He’s rich, handsome, smart and normal. Things are getting pretty serious between us but there’s a problem—technically, I’m already married to a starving artist rock star wannabe.

When my former best friend invited me to her celebrity bridal shower, I went mainly out of curiosity. When she asked me to be her maid of honor though, I wanted to run for the hills. If I didn’t need my estranged husband to sign those divorce papers, I actually would have.

Instead of giving me a divorce, he gave me something else. The truth about the ending of our marriage.

Suddenly, my life with Max doesn’t seem so appealing. The rock star I had run from for all those years is suddenly the man who’s awakened something in me—something I thought had died a long time ago. And damnit, it feels frickin’ amazing!

EXCERPT

You know that queasy feeling in your gut that’s like butterflies and fish are wrestling with each other? That’s how I feel every time I look at Jay. I get all hot under my skin and I want to tear my eyeballs out and rip my nails off one by one. I think its the anger and resentment that still lingers. It’s not because I still think he’s a rock star sex God or anything. Really. Shit. This is why we can’t be in the same room with each other.

As soon as Julia broke away from our hug and went to greet him, I ran to the bar and got myself a stiff drink, then headed to the small podium that housed the jazz quartet just in time to hear the bass player’s solo. He was an older man, probably in his late fifties, and played an upright bass like it was going out of style. His fingers danced along the neck, intricately plucking note after note. He grooved with the slight ting ting of the drummer’s cymbal perfectly in time. Man, they were good.

Watching musicians sort of made me nostalgic for my rock star days. I hadn’t picked up an instrument in years and I probably wouldn’t know what to do with a bass guitar anymore. Not that I ever did. That was the beauty of punk music—you don’t actually need to know how to play. As long as you have the balls to get up on stage, scream about something and pluck a few strings, you’re good. I can’t say that I would ever be a musician again but I do miss the freedom to create whatever and whenever I wanted. Corporate life has done alright by me, but it didn’t leave much room for creativity.

“Nice to see you crawled out of your cubicle,” a voice said behind me. Shivers ran up and down my spine like a thousand spiders being set loose. That voice. That deep, drawling voice. Damn it, why did I agree to come?

“Nice to see you crawled out of your trashcan,” I replied. “Would’ve been nice of you to shower, though. I could smell you across the yard.”

“Typical,” the voice spat at me.

“Can you just let me enjoy the music for like five minutes?” To his credit, he shut his pie hole long enough for the bass solo to finish. We both clapped as the band resumed the song. We were the only two who watching them and they smiled at us, appreciative of our attention.

“So, where’s wonder-geek? Or do they prefer the term nerd? I can never get that right,” Jay sneered.

“Look at you making fun of smart, rich guys. You’re so cool,” I drawled. Man, this was seriously getting old. “I’m actually glad you’re here.”

“Oh, really? Geekazoid not doing it for you these days? You need some marital attention?”

“Don’t be gross. I need you to sign the divorce papers. For real, this time.” I was pretty impressed at how steady that came out because I could feel my vocal chords vibrating.

“Oh yeah. Sure. I guess its been long enough. You’ve moved on, I’ve moved on…”

“You’ve moved on?” I don’t know why it came out like I was surprised. Why did I suddenly cared so much? We’ve been estranged for years. I was sort of happy with Max and Jay deserved to be sort of happy with someone too. I guess. I don’t know why the thought of him being with someone else suddenly filled me with blind rage. What was wrong with me?

His lips curled up into a small, sneaky smile. “Her name is Dianna. Why do you care, anyways? You’ve got yourself a nerd-king.”

I took a deep breath and pushed whatever feelings were surfacing back to wherever they came from. “I don’t care. Just sign the papers before you leave, okay?”

“Yes, sir,” he said and saluted me. I rolled my eyes as far as they would go into the back of my head and walked away. There wasn’t a drink stiff enough to drown out how irritating that man could be. I ordered a shot of whiskey from the bartender and headed for the table of food. Maybe stuffing my face with something fried would help block him out.

The table didn’t seem to be missing a single piece of food except the few fried cabbage sticks I ate earlier. I didn’t see anyone else eating either and I was starting to get self-conscious. I mean, Max had taken me to fancy parties with important people before, but even they picked at the mini quiches that always floated around. I guess that’s just life in Hollywood—no one is caught dead eating in public. Whatever. I picked up another one of the fried cabbage things and shoved them in my mouth.

“You should try one of these things,” Jay said from behind me. He was holding up a small, red pepper stuffed with shredded something. It looked good. I wanted one but I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of enjoying what he suggested.

“What’s wrong with you? Why can’t you leave me alone?”

“What? I’m hungry. I do live off of scraps from a trashcan, after all,” he said. His lips curled into a smug smile as he bit into the pepper. That was all I needed. I felt something snap inside of me and without thinking, I raised my hands and shoved him in the chest. Hard. Really hard. He fell back into the table behind him and crashed onto a large, three-tier caked.

“What the hell?” he yelled and picked up what was left of the top layer of the cake and threw it at me, hitting me right in the face. Icing and butter cream dripped off of me as I stood there stunned.

A moment that felt like an eternity filled the air. The band stopped playing, everyone stopped talking and I’m pretty sure I heard a collective gasp. I stood there, starring at Jay. Anger filled every part of me but then I remembered that I was at a party. Julia’s party. Julia’s bridal shower with a bunch of fancy Hollywood people around. I looked up and there she was, standing by the broken table with her feet surrounded by desserts. I gave her a horrified look and said a silent I’m sorry but she just stood there, stone faced.

N. Franko is a reader of all things funny, romantic, magic, scary, dirty or nerdy-basically anything that’s words on a page.

A huge fan of authors like Chuck Palahniuk and Sophie Kinsella, she spent much of her days daydreaming of being an author while failing hard as a reporter and production artist for a small town newspaper before taking the plunge and writing her first book, Technically Scripted.

When she’s not writing, she’s playing drums in a noisy synth-pop band with her rock star husband, annoyingly taking pictures of everything, drinking coffee or watching an obscene amount of television.

There are two kinds of women in the world – those I can bang, and those
I can’t.

My teammate’s sister?

She’s a can’t.

I moved in with her to protect her from a nasty ex, not to be the next guy in
line.

She’s the brains.

I’m the brawn.

She’s the fruit.

I’m the sausage.

She talks too much.

I don’t talk at all, if I don’t have to.

Should be easy to resist her.

But every minute I spend with Felicity is another minute she gets under my
skin. She makes me feel like something more than a dumb puckhead with a big
Zamboni pony. And it’s getting harder to remember why I need to keep my hands
to myself.

Beauty and the Beefcake is a vegan-friendly standalone romantic comedy

My Review…

“Words are only as good as the man that uses them.” – Ares

What a fabulous introduction to a new to me author.  That quote sums up this whole beautiful, funny story.

This is a stand alone, but I found the secondary characters so amazing, I am going to go and look for her past books so I can read more about them and hope she will write about the others that don’t have a full story yet.

This story of Felicity and Ares.  Both wouldn’t be considered “normal” peeps but drawing from one of my favorite movie quotes, “Normal is a setting on a dryer”, normal is relative and for Felicity and Ares they are “normal” and perfect for each other!

Felicity is quirky, she is spunky and she has horrible taste in men (before Ares of course).  She is beyond intelligent, and academic genius but lacks a bit in the common sense department.  But all that makes for a great character, I absolutely loved her!  Even at my age, (waaayy past 27) I am still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up and it made me relate to Felicity even more!

Ares, oh my! Even though he is named after the god of war, he has the most gentle soul.  He is a man of very few words and not a lot of people really see him. But Felicity does and it’s amazing.

There chemistry is off the charts, it builds slow and steady and when they finally give into their feelings for each other it is so white hot and swoony!

This book had all the makings of a great romantic comedy! It is definitely a must read.  I am so glad I had the opportunity to read this and was introduced to the fantastic writing of Pippa! You have a new fangirl in me!

My Review…

Staci’s books just amaze me, how she can come up with the stories she writes with such heart.

Piece of Work brings you into the world of art and it makes you feel like you are at the Met.

This is the story of Rin and Court. Rin is one of a kind, I really enjoyed the fact that Staci didn’t make her the “stereotypical” heroine, you know blonde hair, blue eyes and a petite 5’2″.  Staci made Rin the complete opposite and I applaud her for it!

Court was a grade A a$$hole! I really wanted to smack him when we are introduced to him, he was selfish and he kept blaming Rin for his feelings “What has she done to me?” The more I read and realized the betrayal he endured, it helped me come around.  When I saw the man he became when he was with Ren on the museum trip (not gonna say where, you have to read to find out) I fell in love with him too.

The chemistry between Court and Rin is explosive and dynamic.  I loved that Rin tried to stick to her principles and give Court the business when he deserved it. I enjoyed reading about Court coming full circle with his feelings towards Rin.

The secondary characters, especially the “Red Lipstick Coalition”, are absolutely phenomenal and I hope and pray that Staci gives more to them.  I would love to see books for every other member!

Staci has created another MUST READ masterpiece!  I have enjoyed this so much and it’s made me want to go visit a museum and appreciate art just a little bit more.

“What are you doing now that your team is out of the running for the Stanley Cup?”

Forget.

I need to forget. I need an escape.

Only one person isn’t falling for my reputation as the NHL’s Golden Boy; she captured my attention the minute she called me out for snooping through my best friend’s house. She didn’t want to hear my reason–she only wanted to playfully give me a hard time.

Adalyn is bold, sassy–and the perfect escape.

She’s everywhere. In town and in my dreams, and suddenly I need to spend every waking moment with her.

And I do, making this summer the best off-season I’ve ever had.

But in the midst of getting lost in Adalyn, what I don’t expect is to get her pregnant.

And what I definitely don’t expect is having to fight for her affection.

“Would you mind zipping up the back of my dress?” She walks toward me, her flowery scent floating in my direction, spiking my yearning into overdrive.

“Uh, yeah . . . sure.”

She turns around, and looks over her shoulder. The back of her dress is completely open, the zipper undone to just above the curve of her beautifully round ass.

Shit, all that smooth, tan skin, covered by nothing but the velvety fabric of the dress. Is she wearing underwear? She’s not wearing a bra and I see no panty line.

Clearing my throat, I ask, “Are you wearing underwear, Adalyn?”

From over her shoulder, she smiles shyly. “Yes, it’s small though.”

Of course it is. Why wouldn’t it be?

Not being able to stop myself, I take a second to float my fingertips up her spine. From the initial touch, her back arches and a small gasp releases from her lips, but before I can think about stopping, she melts into my touch. Stepping closer, I place my hand on the back of her hip, my thumb pressing into her ass while the other hand explores the bare expanse of her back. Her head falls to my shoulder. Her lips part, and when I snake to the front of her dress, her breath hitches.

Eyes closed, I take in ragged breaths, my fingers inching closer and closer to her front, my cock painfully hard.

It’s been so goddamn long—and being with Adalyn has only spurred on my need—but I want to make sure we’re in a good place before we commit to anything. I want to make sure she’s ready emotionally because the minute I bury myself deep inside her, I know there will be no turning back. She will be mine forever.

But maybe for now, I can just have a little touch . . .

My cock pressed against her butt, she expertly grinds her backside into me, her hands moving to my neck, pulling my head down to hers. I kiss the side of her neck, using the hand that’s gripping her hips to guide her with her grinding in just the right place.

Fuck, that feels good.

I grunt, the sound vibrating over her sleek neck. My hand on her stomach, she arches wanting more of my touch, silently asking me to move north.

And I fucking comply. Inch by slow inch, I guide my hand to just below her breasts. When I halt my pursuit, a displeased groan escapes her.

“Hayden, please.”

I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to find the willpower. Her fingernails dig into my scalp, spurring me on as she turns her head and finds my lips.

She kisses me.

Hot.

Wet.

Needy.

Her lips gliding across mine, her tongue diving into my mouth, her moans are vocal and sexy. Her delicious ass, pressing, grinding, undulating against my rock-hard cock makes me want to do so much more, makes me want to taste so much more.

Moving my hand higher, my fingertips graze the bottom of her breast. Soft. Round. Smooth. I caress her right below her nipple, never touching, just teasing . . . tempting.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

My Review…

A true testament to great writing is when the characters in books become like your friends, your tribe, your go-to peeps…

Meghan’s characters are like my lifelong friends. So when I see old friends pop up in new books, it does my heart good.

One Baby Daddy is the story of Adalyn and Hayden.  This is the third book in the Dating by the Numbers series so we were introduced to Hayden in the first book.

Meghan can write hysterically funny romances and then she writes such moving stories, like this one with just a touch of humor (because that’s who Meghan is and I love her for it).

Adalyn is just amazing, she is strong, feisty and kindhearted and truly genuine. (Borrowed from Hayden’s description, because I couldn’t have said it better) She is also loyal and a bit naive, but spectacularly so.  She is so ready to meet a person like Hayden and he was ready to meet her too.

Hayden has always been a favorite of mine, he is a true old fashioned gentleman at heart but with enough alpha in him to make you swoon. He too is loyal, fierce and isn’t afraid to go after what he wants.  He loves the slow burn and holy hell does he do it well.

I have yet to read a book by Meghan that I haven’t fallen in love with and One Baby Daddy is no exception. This is a must read, one-click, add to your to be read list immediately!
