Red Card, Book Two…

One of the eleventy billion reasons why I love Rachel Van Dyken’s stories is how she can take a hot button, relative issue and make it resonate with everyone.

Another reason? I am so glad you asked!  It’s the humor she brings to her romance.  I absolutely flove to laugh out loud when I am reading a story and Kickin’ It does just that!

This is Matt and Parker’s story.  And I absolutely fell in love with the both of them. What Parker went through was horrible and tragic.  How she tried to overcome that, and how everyone let her down before, just made me want to hug her and stand behind her.  Just like Matt did.

I also enjoyed the realistic approach that both Matt and Parker had with their relationship.  They knew what had to happen to make it work and that’s what they did.

The dialogue was witty, fresh and hysterical! The smexy times were just gahhhh melt my heart into a puddle why don’t ya.

Even though sports romances aren’t usually my jive, you cannot go wrong with this story! It’s about so much more than just the world of soccer!  I absolutely love Rachel’s stories and cannot wait to see what comes from her brilliant mind next!

New series by Piper Rayne!?! Sign me up!

This is the introduction to the Mancini Brothers, and let me tell you they are the definition of Alpha!

This new series adds some edginess to the writing duo, and I floved it!  There is bit of angst and of course the smexiness that I love from Piper Rayne.

This is Enzo and Annie’s story.

Enzo, the middle brother is a certified bachelor and loves his life, his job and his family.  He is charismatic, confident and everything you love about an alphahole.

Annie is trying hard to fight the “boys club” world that she is in.  When she is given the opportunity to show some girl power, she goes for it! I also enjoyed reading about her back story, her relationship with her parents and the fresh spin that Piper Rayne brings to it.

This story, like all of Piper Rayne’s stories flows beautifully! The alternate POV’s are amazing and brings more to the world that they are creating.  You also get a great introduction to the whole Mancini family and you will be guessing who is gonna end up with who!!

Another fabulous start to a new series from the dynamite duo of Piper Rayne! Get your hands on this!

I meet Sloane’s gaze then go for it. Because this night has only one destination. “We should go to Tahiti.”

“Tonight?”

“Too long a flight?”

She lets go of my hand and holds up her thumb and forefinger. “Maybe a little. Not that I’m turning down a trip to Tahiti. Wait? Are you saying you want to take me to Tahiti? Because I can pack like that.”

Smiling, I slide my hand to her ass, squeezing. I whisper roughly in her ear, “I’m saying I’d like to escape with you. Like we’re getting away for the night. Let’s fuck away all this hot, wild desire.”

I have to get closer to her. I need to have her. “Let’s give in. Just once.” I slide my fingers into her hair, she leans her head against my palm, and I continue making my case. “I can take you places. I can make you feel extraordinary, like I’ve always wanted to.”

She hums. “You’re making it hard to say no.”

“True. I’m very hard to resist.”

A smile spreads across her face. “You are, Malone. You’re terribly, impossibly hard to resist.” She nibbles on her bottom lip. “One night. Our secret. What happens in Tahiti stays in Tahiti.”

“Absolutely,” I say as my dick high-fives me.

“And where is this alternate universe?”

I curl my fingers around her hip bone. “My place isn’t far. There’s also a hotel down the block. Either way, I intend to strip you naked, get my lips all over you, and make you feel as fucking good as you looked when you were watching me sing.”

“Yes, and then tomorrow . . . we can be friends again.” The thought pains me, but I know this is the only way to deal with our reality.

“Exactly,” she says, nodding her agreement. “We take a trip tonight. We get away to a remote island. And tomorrow we go back to the real world?” She’s seriously considering this. Hell, I’ve already considered it six ways to Sunday in the span of ten seconds, and I say it’s a brilliant plan.

“You say these things . . .”

I grin. “And?”

Oh what a fantastic introduction to a new series by this amazing writer.

There is so much to love about this story, the POV is amazing! It’s humorous, fast paced and oh so swoony! I don’t want to give too much away by spelling it out, so read it and you will agree with me.

This is the story of Malone and Sloane…(it rhymes!!)

I loved the confidence of Malone, he is the quintessential old school gentleman and I floved him!  He has the charm, the charisma and the looks to be a member of the new rat pack! Malone is like a swallow of a good smooth bourbon…he warms you from the inside out!

Sloane is a mystery.  She is a challenge that Malone couldn’t say no to.  Even with the cards stacked against them, they found a way. I loved her bravery, her confidence in asking for what she wants and getting it!

The world that Ms. Blakely creates with this story is so real…it pulled me in and didn’t let me go until the end.  And I so didn’t want it to end.

I loved the tease to the next book in this series and I cannot wait for it!

This story is another stellar addition to Ms. Blakely’s collection! Well done!

Springing to my feet, I square my shoulders, and meet his gaze head-on. Dark gray storm clouds swirl, uncontrollable. He bites down on the corner of his mouth, kicking
one foot up behind him, the sole of his shoe banging against the door.

Standing my ground, I hold his tortured perusal, unwilling to blink first.

“Lila.” He rasps, his eyelids hooded.

“Cade.”

“Why’d you run?”

“I had to go to the bathroom.”

The left side of his mouth twitches and he pushes off the bathroom door, another step closer to me. “No, you didn’t. You couldn’t get out of the room fast enough.”

“You think?”

“It was shitty of me to put you on the spot like that in front of all those people.”

“I told you I don’t want a…thing.” I gesture between us.

“I know.

But this thing,” he steps closer, crowding me, “it’s not going anywhere.”

I shuffle back until I’m pressed against the bathroom wall opposite the door. This damn bathroom is suffocating, overflowing with Cade’s presence. Cade’s forearm settles next to my head, boxing me in. His mouth is only inches from mine, his tongue darting out to swipe across his bottom lip.

I groan, my body involuntarily arching toward his. Jesus, what is wrong with me? And what is he thinking? Who could have a proper argument with all of these…
distractions?

“I shouldn’t have done that, blown up your spot, tossed all that attention your way. But babe,” he drops his forehead to mine, his breath fluttering over my lips like an invitation I desperately want to RSVP yes to, “I hated that so many people threw shade your way. Every comment I heard pissed me off so much more because it was said about you, not me. And I won’t let any of these people talk shit about you.” He jabs a finger toward the party transpiring outside of the smallest bathroom that ever existed. “And I’m not going to apologize for looking out for you.”

“Cade,” I’m breathless, quivering for him to stop talking and start touching. But I need to be strong, resolute … honest. “I’m leaving in four months. I don’t do –”

“Serious, I know. Me either.” His nose brushes against mine and I shiver. Shiver! “But give me a shot, Lila. I’m not going to wifey you. Just let me take you out, kick it with me, come to my games and rock my number, give it a chance.”

“What if it’s too much?”

His fingers close around my hips, tugging until my belly button is flush against his jeans.
Jesus. Need pools within me and as his fingertips grip harder, his body grinding against mine, I whimper, desperate for relief from the wildfire consuming me.

“What if it’s too damn good?” he angles his head lower, his bottom lip ghosting mine.
“Let me light you up until we burn out. Babe, I’m not feeding you lines. I want you, Lovely.”

The College Pact Series

I was so glad to have the opportunity to read this revamped story.  I hadn’t read the first version so I was coming into this story with fresh eyes and an open mind.

Now I will admit that young adult stories are not usually my go to when picking out a read, but I am glad to say that this story has really changed my thinking.

This is Lila and Cade’s story.  Yes they are young, seniors in college, but the issues they face and the way that their love grows makes them mature beyond their years.

Yes their love happens fast and burns bright, but you can tell it’s long lasting, in good time and in bad, Lila and Cade will be there for each other.

Lila has a pact she made with her girlfriends, live big, laugh often and love hard. Rock the hell out of this final year of college and Lila prepares to do just that when she meets Cade.

Cade is the all-American football dream.  He isn’t looking for forever, he is just embracing his final year of college and his hopes for the future.  Then he meets Lila!

You are gonna get all the feels from this story, you are gonna swoon, you are going to hurt, you are gonna cry and then you are gonna get angry.  You are going to find heart and soul in this story!  Well done Ms. Gizzi, I cannot wait for Mia’s story next!

My instant messenger lights up.

Noah: we need things. let’s go shopping tonight.

Me: what sort of things

Noah: you need a new dress for the formal vendor night, and I need…things

Noah: it’s personal

I grab my phone and text him.

ME: WHAT SORT OF THINGS

NOAH: don’t yell its rude

ME: THEN TELL ME

NOAH: it’s PERSONAL

ME: tell me or I’ll throw away all the gummies u left at my place.

NOAH: u wouldn’t dare

ME: wouldn’t I though?

NOAH: underwear

ME: I’m sorry?

NOAH: underwear. I washed my underwear with a red polo and they’re all pink. every pair.

ME: <tears of joy emoji>

I laugh out loud so hard I snort, and he looks up from his desk, craning his neck to look through my window at me. I stand and walk across the hall to his office, and flop down in the chair across from his desk.

“So, tiger, how pink are we talkin’, here?” I put a finger up to catch the tears under my eyes from laughing so hard, and hope I don’t have an unintentional smoky-eye look from my mascara.

“Pink. Like…pink.” He replies, shaking his head.

“That’s not like you, Noah. You’re the perfect housekeeper. You’re great at laundry. You did such a great job cleaning up my place that I can’t find anything.” I roll my eyes.

When I mention the cleaning job he did in my apartment, his cheeks turn pink. I can’t say I’ve ever seen that happen before. It’s weird. It’s intriguing.

“Oh, well…,” he rubs a broad palm up and down the back of his neck. “I’ve been kinda distracted lately. It was just a stupid mistake.”

“Well, we definitely don’t want you walking around Vegas in pink shorts. What if our rooms are on the same floor? If you pick up some girl, and bring her back, her laughter will probably wake me up.” I fan myself until my laughter subsides.

“I’m not picking up any girls in Vegas,” he says, putting his hands behind his head as he leans back in his chair.

“Oh? I thought you said you were cooling things off with…what was the last one’s name? Is that back on?” I ask, hoping my curiosity sounds light and friendly, though it is definitely neither.

“No, that’s been over for a while. I’m not picking up women in Vegas, though. I’m thinking of trying something different…,” he looks down, then casts his eyes up at me, the pale blue orbs turning dark as they peek up from under thick, dark brows.

“What?! Don’t tell me you’re batting for the other team now. I mean, I’ve had a few gay guys ask me about you, but I always thought for sure you preferred an innie to an outie,” I laugh.

“Um, no. Definitely one-hundred-percent straight, thanks,” then he looks at me and we say in unison, “Not that there’s anything wrong with that.” Seinfeld. Our mutual love of 90s sitcoms is boundless. It is one of a thousand things that make him perfect.

“So, what then?” I ask, dipping my brows.

“I’m taking a little break from the usual, that’s all. I’m thinking maybe I want to try…I dunno. Something…more.” He shrugs and holds my gaze intensely.

“So…,” I swallow hard, the words catching in my throat. Please, dear God, tell me this isn’t the conversation I’ve dreaded for the past five years. Please, please, don’t let him have found someone he’s serious about.

A new to me author, another new author to start following!!

This is a story of friendship, this is a story of love and hope and also about fear, fear of the unknown and fear of change.

This is the story of Elle and Noah, best friends, ride or die friends.  When does friendship develop into more? Read this story and see how it unfolds.

This story gave me all the feels.  It was filled with heart, heat, a bit of angst and hope.  A prefect cocktail for a love story.

Elle is independent and fiery.  She is also vulnerable and was hit with some self esteem issues that most women have.  Am I enough?  I could empathize completely!

Noah, oh my me….what a dreamboat! Swooniness personified! But he too has his fears and uncertainties.

Noah and Elle’s progression in their relationship flows brilliantly! I couldn’t put this story down.  Just when I thought, YES, YES! Ms. Woodhull would bring a bit of a twist and made you crave to read more!

I cannot wait to read some of Ms. Woodhull’s previous stories and see what comes from her next! Loved this story!

This series starts off quick and it’s fabulous!

A workaholic CEO with a secret, a intern looking to make her way in the world.  This is the perfect combination for a whirlwind affair.

Dominic is the classic alpha CEO.  He is set in his ways and thinks everything in his world is fine until he meets the new intern at his company.  Presley unknowingly shakes up his perfect world.

Presley is fighting to make a name for herself, to support herself and her brother.  Nothing is going to stand in her way.  Even her feelings towards her boss and mentor….

The chemistry between the two of these characters is fierce and I admire how hard Presley fights it.  Heck even Dominic tries to fight it.
